days inn is not far from the restaurant on north 4th street. only 2 blocks up. there's a police union office nearby, so the neighborhood is safe. otherwise, there are motel 6 and wyndham on north 1st street not far away. on the other side of hedding and 4th is san jose japantown. there's also a moroccan restaurant on gish and north 1st called the menara, if you like belly dancing.
