SINGAPORE: Singapore's economic growth accelerated faster than expected in the first quarter of 2012.

Advance estimates from the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) showed the economy grew by 9.9 per cent in the three months to March 2012, reversing the previous quarter's 2.5 per cent contraction.

Economists had forecast first-quarter growth of around 6.3 per cent.

Growth in the manufacturing sector of 14.7 per cent was largely responsible for the improved first quarter performance, which compares with the previous quarter's 11.1 per cent contraction.

MTI said the turnaround was supported by higher output levels in the electronics and precision engineering sectors.

On a year-on-year basis, the Singapore economy grew by 1.6 per cent in the first quarter, also beating economists' forecasts of around 0.7 per cent.

Well done PAP. I have always had faith in your ability to overcome all the odds.

PAP always perform better than expected when it's about economy. Fake or no fake.

well, there are prostitutes ad porn-star being rich too.

There are welly-educated people who earn proper living and rich too.

Sinkieland is like a prostitute which sell their cunts for money.

and sinkies sell their soul for money.

Country like ang mor first world CREATE technology and new business approach for new wealth and prosperity.

I am certainly not impressed by sinkieland's so called prostitute growth.

show me some creativity and if ANY scientist awarded any noble prize. if not then bend down and let your govt screw.

If a tax haven cannot grow its economy, I worry. The contention isn't over whether Singapore is doing well or not but how much of the relative success of Singapore can be attributed to the PAPpies.

That is a sinkie way to deliver a fake result. the PAP sinkie way..They do not care a shit about everyone other than themselves..

Watch it, people, this usually means higher prices for everything.

Funny, this overcoming the odds didn't come about when everybody was suffering. It only comes about when the US and the World seem to have turned around. Very hard to explain. Very hard to explain one.

Already showing the trend. The forecast of inflation is 1% higher than previously anticipated.

Beware of stats (and how you interpret). Near +10% growth from a contraction last quarter speaks volumes.

"Suffering" to a sinkie means no money for an iPhone and a fancy set of wheels.

Just go to show the only sort of company you mix up with.

Regular price increases are part & parcel of voting for the PAP. I'm still waiting for the day when the 60% decide enough is enough:eek:
