Fans react to James Bond drinking beer
By Meriah Doty | Movie Talk – Wed, 4 Apr, 2012 6:19 PM EDT

Not shaken, not stirred: James Bond will be drinking beer—not his signature martini—in a scene in the next big-screen 007 installment starring Daniel Craig.
As part of a global ad campaign, Craig will be throwing back a Heineken in the upcoming "Skyfall" as well as on globally-run television spots, according to an Ad Age report.
Yahoo! Movies reached out to its audience to gauge reaction to Bond's Heiney. And it is news the Dutch beer company may want to sit down for:
"D**** you, Product Placement," Doug wrote on Twitter in response to our update on @YahooMovies. Davey C simply tweeted "Screw 'em." Dave Yakir echoed thoughts with a "what a load of crap" tweet, and Keith Williams typed, "Booooo!!!"

It is worth noting this is not the first time Bond has bucked tradition. In 1995's "Goldeneye," Bond (then played by Pierce Brosnan) ditched his Aston Martin for a BMW. Avid fans took issue with the iconic character trading his British car for a German one. The problem was corrected for "Casino Royale" (2006) when Bond (played by Craig) returned to his Aston Martin roots.
The beer jeers got more detailed on Facebook with an overwhelmingly negative response in the comments area—though the update was also met with dozens of likes—which is, admittedly, open to interpretation. "SACRILIGE!" (sic) wrote Joshua Mallet, emphatically in all caps. David Newman, apparently deflated by the news, wrote, "Ugh".

Also on Facebook, Lindsay Fletcher deftly pointed out that Bond now being blonde is another departure from tradition. "…I miss Connery and Moore," she added of the former brunette Bonds.
"Skyfall," set to release in early November, pits M against 007 as her loyalty to him is tested. MI6 headquarters becomes the target of an attack and only 007 can thwart it—but he may have to pay a hefty price to do so.

watched the first Bond movie 'Dr No' when it was first released in the 60s...think i was impressed by the gadgets.

Daniel Craig is the best James bond since Timothy Dalton(Sean Connery was before my time). Pierce Brosnan is so fucking gay.

Sean Connery epitomises everything that is 007. The good looks, the debonair, a ladies man, sophisticated, tall, dark and handsome. My first James Bond book, From Russia with Love described James Bond, and Sean Connery was so perfect for the role.

James Bond was written in the 50s (??) when the world was a different place. Seriously the whole high-life-fast-woman/car thing is so cliche.. The last few Bond movies with Brosnan were like re-makes of Casablanca with explosions.

I prefer the updated Bond. But that's just me...

Btw, my favourite Bond movie is For your eyes only (1982).

Yup. Confirm Craig is the most katek at 5 feet 10 inches..

Ex Bond actors side-by-side.. Dalton is the tallest:

Connery versus Roger Moore.. Sir Sean wins.

I enjoyed both the books and the movies....started with the Roger Moore movies in the 70's. Never queued for tickets cause my dad knew the projectionist at Sky Theatre in Great World. hahaha

picked up the continuation series by John Gardner in the 80's and Raymond Benson in the 90's. Fleming's still the best.

My 1988 edition below

Read long ago an interesting fact about the movie Dr No. When it was released in Japan, the title had to be translated.

The dumb nips thought the title was a question: "Doctor? No."

So the title of the movie in Japan became "We Don't Need A Doctor" :D :D :D

Fren, Timothy Dalton was the worse James Bond,,that was why he was replaced with Brosnan...and Brosnan did well as James Bond,,,frankly to me,,the worse James was the Australian Actor George Lazenby from 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service'

Just did not like it

Pierce Brosnan was the best James Bond. Exuding all the qualities reflecting Ian Fleming script like a mirror. Brosnan was chosen to replace Roger Moore in mid 80s, but CBS refused to release him from contract and coldstored him almost 10 years rather paying him free salary for doing nothing. It was Hollywood politics. Details spared. Moore was always too comical and Dalton was always too clueless to be like Bond. Brosnan finally got his James Bond role in mid 90s. Quite a decade of youth wasted but he still turned out to be the best. Daniel Craig should be shopping for a toupee soon, just like Sean Connery in the past.

Pierce Brosnan had always been earmarked to play Bond after Roger Moore. But his contract with TV series Remington steel didn't let him go.

But yeah I heard George Lazenby was the worst.

btw, did you all know that Dalton was originally chosen by the producers to replace Connery....he felt he was to young and didn't take up the role. Thank goodness, else we would have had him from OHMSS to License to Kill ... 20 years and 11 films....hahahaha. I didn't like the Dalton Bond. Brosnan and Connery are my favourites

brosnan is really good looking eh?

When craig took over many ppl didn't really like it at first cos he's ugly compared to brosnan but after the first movie with him as bond was screened many ppl actually liked it.

It's amazing they chose someone that isn't that good looking. If it was a sinkie casting company or agent they wouldn't have done that. To sinkie acting ppl looks >>>>> than everything else.

Daniel Craig first came into fame as a kid playing the role of the son Tom Hanks in Road To Perdition (gangster movie). It's quite a wonder that he grew and aged so fast since. That was hardly ten years ago. The kid to me looks like an uncle to me now.

Re: Fans appalled at James Bond\'s sacrilege

James Bond films since Barbara Broccoli took over as producer has really deviated from the original Bond that Ian Flemming had in mind (tall, dark hair, debonair). They should have used Hugh Jackman instead of Daniel Craig. Rolex Sub instead Omega Seamaster. Aston Martins instead of BMWs. Martinis shaken not beer.
