Here in S'pore, the average folks are almost at a subsistence level, hand to mouth basis daily. On top of that, we definitely have more poor people than Switzerland. I would like to congratulate the PAP govt for doing such a fantastic job transforming the country from a backwater to the top of the league.

S'pore was not a backwater when LKY took over. It was a thriving seaport with good infrastructure built up by the British who also ran an excellent administration regime with top notch education provided. Many of what LKY claimed credit for were in fact solid foundations laid down by the British. Many would in fact say that LKY destroyed quite a lot of the good works done by the British.

Another myth is that S'pore is not in the top of the league. Just read those rankings that matter (and not those just have GDP or per capita figures). As I've urged consistently, pro PAP samsters should think before they post. We already know that you are a brainless lot (for what else can they be to so blindly supporting a hopeless cause) but you don't have to prove it.

I am glad we did not go the welfare state route too. The problem is we are going on the profiteering super highway. And the largest vehicles belong to or are linked to the govt.

That's right. In any case, people like Leongsam has always been wrong about those asking the govt to do more for the poor and needy. Just by rendering more aid to the lowest segment of society does not mean we turn ourselves into a welfare state. This is what LKY and his balls carriers would have us believe. It's far from it and is only a matter of more equitable distribution of income and expense allocation. To LKY, spending one cent more leads inevitably to a welfare state. Anyone with some common sense can tell it's pure nonsense. The sad thing is the PAP balls carriers don't have common sense.

He or she will tell you how they are struggling to make ends meet with hardly any leftover as savings.
