If a political party wants to implement its ideals and serve the people, it first needs power. No power, nothing can be done. To change society for the better, your need to grab power, and to do that, you need to rally the people, win hearts and minds, and win votes. You need to be able to galvanize the masses. Nothing else matters. To lose your mind to revenge and emotional baggage is a sign that a person is unfit for politics. Politics is a game for the ruthless at heart yet clear in mind, and steady in public conduct.

Politics is like that in summarized terms. The policitians want something. The voters want something. Agree somewhere in between and the politicians win power. Everything must follow politcian wishes, that's dictatorial. Everything must follow voter wishes, that's anarchic. PAP post LKY is moving to the middle agreement and arrangement. WP post JBJ is also moving to the middle agreement and arrangement. That eradicates possibity of extremes of dictatorship and anarchy, whichever wins, yet still leaving reasonable space of choice, setting the scene for a peaceful lawful democratic society. How come PAP and WP can win seats?

Because voters are not as politically stupid however unedecudated they are. It's some losing politicians who're overeducated, suffered brain damage and when they lost to the sanity of the voters, hurl abuses on voters for being stupid or cowards. Then it spiralled into a vicious cycle, dragging innocent parties in.
