i got an addtitional 40kg of weight plates delivered to my home and managed to get enough weight to weigh more than 2x my BW. So i went ahead and completed 2x BW DL for 3 reps.:D

it would be good if you have a excercise rack with weights for various muscles. start with a low weight and many repetition for warm-ups, ending with a heavy with low repetition at the end. the most 15 minutes to finnish the excercise. but its worth it. better then jogging and save lots of time.

I don't have a rack but i have a barbell and enough weights to add up to 150kg total. With a bit of improvisation i can do squats, shoulder/military presses, deadlifts obviously and even bench presses. I also have a chin up contraption and i can do 20kg weight strapped to me for 5 reps. I hope to do 30kg for 1 rep one of these days just that my chain isn't long enough.

i have 2 dumb bell bars but i only have four 5 kg plates and a couple of 2.5kg plates around so i think the max weight i can fit on 2 dumb bells would probably be around 15kg unless i put my huge 10 kg plates on them.

Oh yes i'm sure you're talking about doing those isolation exercises like curls and tricep workouts. These are quite ok but if you're looking to gain size and strength u need to do compound movements like squats and deadlifts.

I used to have those too. and a sports bike. But kids got i the way. I remember putting too much weight on the barbell and couldn't lift it back onto its seats. Was a struggle as exercise alone in the room. The thing was on my chest and trapped with a heavy weight on it.

Now they are in school, thinking of getting them again. Bike riding uphill is good for cardio-respiratory system. And because bike riding is faster than jogging, it feels cooler and without the thumping effect, which is uncomfortable.

You actually did benchpress without a spotter? Obviously you mean BP cos you don't need a spotter when doing DL.

How much weight did you use to bench?

I got the set when single. brought it home and did it by myself. That was decades ago.No spotters.
I can only remember dumb bells. 15kgs are ok. 20 is a struggle.

huh? you bench using dumbbells or you bench with 20kg? 20kg is really very light even old man can do it standing up.

barbells i can lift much much more. Dumbbells are the ones used by one hand.

You can also bench with dumbbells too. It's more challenging to bench with dumbbells but you need to do it with both hands and not 1 hand.

You ever tried to deadlift 2x your bodyweight?

I was only 50kg then. I did not do deadlift. Only bench press and squats.

Maybe 80kg for bench and similar for squat if I remember correctly. That was the limit of weights i bought. Did reps mostly to improve cardio-vascular. feels really god after a work out. I think I need one now after 6 years. Last exercise was playing squash with medical students.

wah serious ah? You can bench more than 1.5x your BW?

benching 1.5x your bw isn't that simple. You say you can do that but have difficulty with 20kg dumbbell?
