Yam Ah Mee to be shown door on 31 March - looking for job in private sector

SINGAPORE: The People's Association, National Heritage Board and The National Art Gallery will have new chief executives from March (2013).

Their appointments are part of the leadership renewal process in the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY).

Mr Yam Ah Mee, 55, Chief Executive Director of the People's Association (PA), will retire from the public service to join the private sector after completing his tenure at PA on 31 March.

Mr Yam, who has been Chief Executive Director of PA since June 2010, has led PA's efforts in building community bonds and social cohesion.

Mr Ang Hak Seng, 52, currently Chief Executive of the Health Promotion Board, will be appointed Chief Executive (Designate) on 15 Feb and Chief Executive Director from 1 April.

PA's Deputy Chairman, Mr Lim Swee Say, expressed PA's deep appreciation to Mr Yam for his significant contributions in strengthening community bonding.

Mr Lim said he has made a difference and will be missed.

As for the National Heritage Board, Mr Michael Koh, 51, will relinquish his role as Chief Executive Officer on 1 March, a post he has held since September 2006.

He will be Special Advisor (Heritage) in MCCY to help review heritage policy and strengthen partnerships with key stakeholders to preserve and promote Singapore's heritage.

Mrs Rosa Huey Daniel, 49, currently Deputy Secretary (Culture) MCCY, will hold the concurrent appointment of Chief Executive (Designate) NHB from 1 February.

She will be appointed its Chief Executive from 1 March.

The National Art Gallery will have a new Chief Executive Officer, Ms Chong Siak Ching, from 1 April.

Ms Chong, 54, will provide strategic leadership to the Gallery, which will open in 2015.

MCCY intends to bring together its three visual arts institutions, namely the National Art Gallery, the Singapore Art Museum and the Singapore Tyler Print Institute, to achieve better operating synergies and co-ordinate programme efforts.

Ms Chong will concurrently head this visual arts cluster.
