That's why the GRC system is flawed. It was created initially to stop opposition participation. Hence the introduction of GRC with racial requirements

In what way are the opposition prevented from contesting? As long as they can raise the election deposits and are law-abiding citizens, they can contest. If thousands of sinkies have enough money to pay for COEs, it means they can easily raise the monies required for election deposits, which is fraction of what COEs cost.

The opposition can also make use of online media, which is free, to propagate their ideas. Youtube has been around for ages, and yet you hardly see the opposition using it actively to promote their ideas. Same for their use of social media. On the other hand, PAP candidates seem to be more pro-active on Facebook to raise public awareness of their ground work.

The GRC is there to ensure that all of the 4 major races of Singapore are represented in parliament. We don't want to go down the road of some countries, where power is disproportionately held in the hands of a single race or religious group.

Actually PAP impending downfall or at least the current slate of problems are caused by inbreeding. Too many por lumpar that hide the real truth from the top. Basically the reaped what they sowed

Yes, inbreeding. Yes, pap will reap what it sows.

More importantly, once the pap is defeated, the skeletons in the 50 year old cupboard will be dug out and shown to Singaporeans

Yes, LHL has already warned the pap dogs to expect a fierce contest at the next GE

LHL doesn't want PAP activists to get complacent, after making the opposition their bitches in every GE. It is also more entertaining for the voters if they think the opposition has a chance of winning. But we all know how it would turn out in the end. PAP will win by a large margin. Singaporeans trust Tin Pei Ling much more than they trust Low Thia Khiang and Chaim See Tong put together.

Therein lies the problem. 60.1% holding 90% of the seat. There was also a 10% fall to their lowest ever I believe

GE 2001, PAP got 75.3% of the votes. GE 2011, PAP got 60.1% of the votes. The pap lost 15.2% support in the short space of time

With social media and LHL's poor performance, it is not inconceivable for the pap to lose another 15.2% at the next GE. That will bring the pap's support from 60.1% to 44.9%. That's about what PAP got at the By-election Punggol East.

The pap may reduce the number of GRCs at the next GE. Whether to reduce or scrap the GRCs, the pap is facing a bug dilemma.

Frankly, with such inept PAP performance over the last three years, nothing LHL do will save the pap from a big slap at the next GE. And LHL knows it

At the by-election, people voted for opposition with confidence because they already know their father, PAP government, is already safely back in power. They don't have to worry about PAP not being there to take charge. This is also the opposition's main strategy: you can vote for us now, because your beloved PAP won't be dethroned.

In a GE, people will vote to preserve PAP, because they know in their hearts, Singapore cannot make it without the PAP. They need PAP more than they need their god or gods.

How do you account for the 15% slide from 75.3% to 60.1%? And that was without aggressive social media?

How do you account for the 35% PAP endorsed Tony Tan at the Presidential Elections? Wasn't that a big slap from Singaporeans to the pap? Say what you want about the Presidential Election, but you cant deny that 65% voted against pap

True, those found out were charged.

How many have not been found out?

Teh Cheang Wan, Wee Toon Boon, Phey Yew Kok, Michael Palmer, etc...

It's the same with Peter Lim, Ng Boon Gay, etc

The above were caught.

but how many remain not caught?

ACCORDIng iceberg theory, 90% are scotfree

60.1% is still a comfortable majority vote. In most matured democracies, the main party barely gets 55% support. In the PE, about 70% of the voters voted for a PAP-affiliated candidate. The party views it as a very strong endorsement of the PAP brand.

GE2015 or 2016 would be a cinch.

Re: NEA vs AHPETC: Post-sentence Statement (Media Release – 24 December 2014)

My landed prop was spotchecked n melayu inspect found mozzie breeding in pot catch tray
He appeared kawan, kawan and assured that only verbal warning...............BUT within a week I got summon for $150 fine. This sort of behaviour is lamentable and is the last time NEA is allowed to enter my house: they are always told boss NOT in, come some other time (......or get a search warrant)

They have come so many times & have never found anything whatsoever & I am getting fed up with them wasting my time.

So whenever I hear that they are around I avoid answering the door:smile:
