It is natural to be wary about over population and insufficient production to meet the demand. That was one of the early economic lessons we were taught, and also the basis for LKY's "stop at two" policy, but technological advancements have proved that wrong. The "green" technologies of the seventies which brought us super-phosphate fertilizers overcame food shortages. The only thing that prevented many of the peoples in the world from getting this food was that they weren't able to pay for it. Farmers dump their harvests into the rivers when the yield they obtained was so much that it drove down the prices. So, it is the greed and profit in our human minds that screwed up the distribution of food. Look around the malls in Singapore, any shortage of food? No. Why? Because people here have the money to pay for it. The problem here is more of food wastage and disposal. In most cities all over the world, populations have moved beyond eating to survive, they are now selective in their choice of diet, either for health reasons, or for gastronomic delight. For the poor, well, some people do something to help them, most others don't even give it a thought.

There will be arguments citing the advantages of war and population control it provides, but nobody wants to be in one. Those who delight in it are advised to join as mercenaries and go fight in them. If they have the guts.

You will not dream to produce food when resources run out, when energy and material runs out, and when environment is ruined. ALL agriculture needs ENERGY & MATERIALS for tools etc. Even a sufficiently UNPOLLUTED environment itself is a form of resources required for ANY agriculture. Regardless weather you are peaceful or waring, you are dead when over-sized population exhausted resources. Only way to survive is to CUT POPULATION level to fit the LIMITED resources, and it is very drastic, and only most brutal uncivilized way will be able to see a chance. Only after cutting down to a small enough level of population, you can consider how to produce food for the remaining people, with the remaining resources. But it will be surely easier when there is a smaller population.

Are you silly trying to prevent war by the poor argument that war hinders production of food hence can not have war? What rubbish? Man had wars since very beginning of own existence and almost never stop. It is the most natural and health mechanism of ELIMINATION & BALANCING. It had became so dysfunctional ever since man began a grave CHILDISH mistake of promoting Peace which was 1~2 century ago only, especially after establishing UN after WW2 to enforce global peace. This mistake shot up the population level curve in near vertical graphic scale.

Look at the drastic sharp rise in the population level above. I can tell you that the shape of the curve of REMAINING GLOBAL RESOURCES is the vertical flip of this similar shape, except it is upside down and even falling more sharply due to the cumulative nature of reduction / consumption.

Yup, it will be nice if people fought someone their own weight and size, but the big boys (USA, Russia, China) will not be fighting each other. They'd rather pick on someone small they can hit from a distance and they are unable to shoot back. These big countries just want the status quo to remain where it is, and continue to make money. They will once in a while send some planes to bomb Taliban, Al-Qaeda, and other rag-tag gangs so as to justify the budget for military spending.

USA and western superiority have always been demonstrated against likes of Afganistan, Iraq, Libya .... it is time they show their real worth against Russia. Or later China. It is a different ball game when you shoot at someone who can shoot back.

It is the money to be made from consumer demand that drives this. Oil palm products are in demand the world over and Indonesia happens to be the world's biggest producer. They (or rather the world) has to work on better techniques. For now, the direction of the wind is our only solution, but something else needs to be developed, and put into practice.

Why even worry about agricult if it's way of production pollutes air to give us Haze says 1000~2000 psi, that I can die in less than 3 days? Even if the agriculture produced my food it may be for apes to eat after we ate all dead from Haze.

A RUSSIAN jet has been shot down by Turkish forces after it flew into the country's airspace, according to as yet unconfirmed reports circulating on social media.



According to reports, eyewitnesses saw a large explosion in Huraytan, northern Syria, while three fighter jets were hovering above.

One journalist tweeted that three Turkish planes were responding to "mysterious" lock-ons from Mig-29 jets, which are used by Putin's forces.

Daily Star Online has contacted the Turkish government and the Russian military but neither could be reached for comment.

at first i was gonna post the mig was a bait for turkey to shoot it down so russia can roll her ass in ala command and conquer red alert style.
