Every year, we’ve had food brands come up with very creative (and questionable) ideas for new recipes or inventions for April Fool’s Day. Some brands have also experimented with unusual flavours for their desserts but we’d rather leave those to the adventurous ones.

Speaking of unusual flavours, would you be willing to try a McDonald’s burger that’s been poured with cough syrup? While it doesn’t sound appetising to most people, this TikToker decided to take on the challenge of tasting this weird food combo. Watch:

Singaporean food influencer Calvin Lee or @foodmakescalhappy recently posted a video on his TikTok channel of himself at a Mcdonald’s outlet pouring Nin Jiom Pei Pa Koa cough syrup onto the chicken patties of his double McSpicy burger. As seen in the video, the thick herbal medicine, which looked like barbeque sauce at first glance, was oozing out of the burger as the TikToker took a bite.

The content creator apparently liked the weird food combination, describing it to be, “Spicy, sweet, and crazy shiok!!!”. He also joked that he wouldn’t need to worry about getting a sore throat from eating the spicy meal as the syrup will protect the throat.

The post went viral and caught the attention of many netizens, who were perplexed by this mix-and-match meal. Some questioned how the influencer could even come up with the idea of eating fast food with cough syrup while others were genuinely curious about the taste and want to try it for themselves.

You’d think that was the end of it but apparently, Calvin posted two more videos of him eating ice cream and durian with the Nin Jiom Pei Pa Koa cough syrup. Everyone has their own preferences when it comes to food but if you ask us, we’ll probably just skip the cough syrup for our meals. Would you try this unusual food combo?
