英國老婦被摘錯器官 死在手術檯上

英國一家醫院的醫生，誤把腎臟當肝臟，導致一名77歲的老婦，流血過多而心臟衰竭，死在手術檯上。
法蘭西斯老太太罹患腎臟癌，前年七月動手術切除右腎，基於加速復原的考量，醫生採取小切口手術，主刀的醫生在完成切口之後，把他認為比較容易的摘除腎臟的部分，交給在旁見習的住院醫師來做。
從來沒有做過這種手術的住院醫師，把手伸入切口，要移除病患的右腎，可是他發現手的觸感不太對，主治醫師馬上接手，不過有可能是住院醫師已經破壞了保護肝臟的薄膜，肝臟向下移位，以至於主治醫師也誤把肝臟當成了腎臟，他用力一拉，肝臟撕裂，病患血壓急降，開刀房急call兩名資深醫生前去幫忙，不過老太太已經回天乏術。
醫院在完成調查之後，提出報告，也取得家屬諒解，雙方庭外和解。
