Tip-offs about the incident first surfaced on China's popular social networking app WeChat on January 3, with netizens posting photos of some passengers posing with the gun for selfies on the plane, according to the report. While some netizens suspected it to be a toy or imitation gun, others, including IT industry insiders, said it looked more like a laptop battery.

Police said they have received no report of the incident from either the airline company or passengers involved. And investigations are going on.

China bans all replica guns, including plastic and wooden toy guns, on its airplanes. An airport security worker told the paper it is not difficult for airports to discover replica guns with the help of scanning instruments.

Netizens expressed concern about the possible panic such behavior could have caused among passengers, which may have put the plane's safety at risk.

Woman detained for trying to open cabin door during flight

Xinhua, January 5, 2016

A female passenger has been detained for trying to open the cabin door of a plane bound for Sanya in south China's Hainan Province.

On Monday, a passenger on flight JD 5180, operated by China's Capital Airlines, said on microblog Sina Weibo that a female passenger on the flight tried to open the cabin door.

The woman then threatened to commit suicide after she and two other passengers were brought under control following a brawl with the cabin crew, according to Weibo user "Rogerstandy."

Capital Airlines confirmed the in-flight chaos on the plane bound for the tropical city of Sanya. The company said a Chinese female passenger "displayed erratic behavior" and wanted to open the cabin door about an hour after the plane took off from the city of Changsha, central China's Hunan Province.

According to the company, crew members dealt with the incident properly and the plane arrived safely in Sanya at 2:20 p.m. without delay. It said the woman has been put under police detention for further investigation.

The flight takes just over two hours and uses an Airbus A320.

At this rate of incidents involving tiongs and Tiong airlines, travel insurance will soon have a clause in bold that reads something like : insurance does not cover any event as Long as there is a Tiong on the same flight, or that airline operates within and from a Tiong airport.

Sooner, rather than later, we will read report of a plane fell out of the sky. No need to Guess why or which country or race.

Chinese passenger arrested at Suvarnabhumi for theft on plane

An image from a video clip taken by another passenger shows Qiquan Ma apparently trying to steal money from the luggage of another passenger in an overhead compartment on the plane.

A Chinese passenger was allegedly caught red-handed on Monday stealing money from another passenger on a flight to Bangkok from Istanbul.

Qiquan Ma, 45, a native of Henan province in China, was arrested by Tourist Police at Suvarnabhumi after Turkish Airlines flight TK064 came arrived at the airport from the Turkish capital.

Pol Col Nitithorn Jintanakanon, deputy commander of the Tourist Police Division at the airport, said the Chinese passenger faces charges of theft on an airplane in the case to be handled by the Suvarnabhumi airport police station.

Mr Ma is accused of stealing 5,050 euro and other foreign currencies in cash from the bag of Harald Amming, a Danish passenger. The bag was left in the overhead compartment.

A Turkish passenger sitting seven rows behind the Chinese man used a mobile phone to record him apparently stealing the money before alerting the crew. The video clip was key evidence for police to take legal action on the man, the officer said.

Police also found his return ticket to Istanbul on the same airline scheduled for Tuesday and speculated that Mr Ma had planned to leave Bangkok as soon as possible to avoid arrest.
