TKPS Deaths - MOE COI?

MOE has no choice but to conduct a COI for the loss of 11 lives. It's not an overreaction. It is necessary to prevent a similar incident

The aim of the COI is not to find fault and penalise anyone.

The aims of the COI must include:

1. Measures to prevent a similar recurrence
2. Find out whether the risk assessment protocol used by SG schools is adequate
3. Lessons learnt
4. Any other matters that are relevant

What can be prevented must be prevented.

Why does it take MOE so long to decide to have an Inquiry? Does MOE really think that an Inquiry is not necessary? The COI must be chaired by an Independent Chairman, preferably a Judge.

Where is leadership in MOE and Singapore?

I see no reason for a COI.

The deaths were caused by an EARTHQUAKE.

Earthquakes can be deadly.

What else do you need to know?

Conclusion : All in order. Let's move on.:o

hahaha.. good one but not a likely COI Finding

A truly independent Inquiry will have much to say about the Risk Assessment methodolgy, sending 12 year-olds primary school kids to climb a 13400ft mountain, did the students get proper medical check ups? lessons learnt, apportionment of responsibilities, etc

Terms of Reference for the COI could include:

1. Has there been any other Mt Kinabalu earthquake?
2. Was the Risk Assessment Methodology adequate?
3. Was there any negligence?
4. Were the students medically fit to go for the Mountain Climbing excursion?
5. Apportionment of responsibility
6. Lessons learnt
etc

they hv been rehearsing a COI....Is it professional enough for public scrutiny?

To prevent any cover-up, a COI's findings should be made available to the public.

Contrary to what many said that the 11 deaths were the result of the earthquake and there is nothing to learn from it, I believe there are many cock-ups and mistakes made. I believe there are many lessons to be learnt and much can be done by MOE and the schools to prevent another accident in the management of students, their learning and excursions. Only a COI can surface all these

1 & 2 can be answered using this map.

The government should therefore come up with a LAW barring all travel to these regions. This includes the State of California, the whole of NZ, the whole of Japan, Significant portions of China, most of the Western Coastal regions of South America.

3. Yes the government was extremely negligent for not adopting a ZERO risk approach towards the safety and health of its citizens.

4. Yes the students were not medically fit enough to resist the force imposed by rocks the size of cars rolling over them. For this the PAP must be held responsible. In future only those that can physically withstand the crushing weight of a 100 ton rock should be allowed to go on excusions.

5. The PAP is 100% responsible.

6. The most important lesson to be learned is that we must vote the PAP out in the next election to ensure that innocent Sinkie children are not killed by earthquakes in the future.

Unlike you, I don't prejudge anything based on hearsays and speculations. Let the COI do its job

A COI goes beyond just the earthquake. It can take an independent look at how MOE and the schools have rightly or wrongly overfocused on students' development
