FOR the second time within a year, the registers of voters are being updated.
According to a notice published on Wednesday in the electronic version of the Government Gazette, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has directed the Registration Officer to do the revision and complete it by March 31.
The last revision was called exactly a year ago, on Feb 17 last year, and completed by April 30.
Under the Parliamentary Elections Act, a revision has to be carried out not more than three years after a general election. As the last election was in May 2006, the revision had to be completed by May last year.
What is unusual about this year's revision is that it comes so soon after the previous revision.
Between the November 2001 and May 2006 general elections, the rolls were updated twice - first in September 2004 and then in January 2006, four months before the May 2006 polls.

I think the little dragon is betting on the 2nd casino to open ...to show the "success" ...like a one-two punch knock out....to show Singaporeans the PAP successful move to "re-invent" Singapore.

Sands opens in April so ERECTION could be in June or July 2010.

SINGAPORE: A day after the Elections Department announced that the Register of Voters is being revised, the government gazette has published the boundaries of altered polling districts.

This is for the 14 group representation constituencies (GRCs) and nine single-member constituencies (SMCs).

The announcement noted the altered polling districts of every electoral division and acknowledged that the details were published.

It is believed to be the precursor of the Electoral Boundaries Report, which is normally released before an election.

The government has announced plans to increase the number of SMCs and introduce a cooling-off day at the close of campaigning, before voters go to the polls.

For this, Singapore's Constitution and Parliamentary Elections Act has to be amended, before the boundaries come into force for the next general election, not due till February 2012.

The last general election was held on 6 May 2006.

Whichever way you look at it, PAP is going to win big again. They are very cautious when it comes to GE, and they will consult astrologers, monks, fortune tellers, 黃大仙、賴布衣,張良,諸葛亮,一燈大師,to ensure a sure-win outcome.

Dear Uncle Yap,

The alteration of the polling districts is only the first step towards the changing of boundaries, GRCs and SMCs.

It basically lay the foundation on how the boundaries will be cut... it is a precursor to the final boundary report.

It is strange that the polling districts have to be amended TWICE within 12 months. It means that somehow, something or configurations must have been changed, so much so that they have decided to change their original plan on the boundaries redrawing exercise.

I expect the boundary report to be announced by April. Until then, we could only speculate. We could do a comparison though, on what changes have been made and second guess their ultimate motive or directions.

Opposition parties and
interested independent candidates pse go ASAP to Elections Dept to get the new boundaries!

I was reading it and it is the same numbers as last GE, so I felt strange.

If they this isn't the final cut, then they won't be asking voters to check against their own records yet.

No... the details lie in the district boundaries... they have been changed.. some of them...Although the final constituency boundaries did not change...not supposed to change.

Once the district boundaries are changed, they could just move the whole districts to somewhere else ... like forming a new SMC or cut to another GRCs..etc.

I didn't say they are confident. I said they are cautious. They have 'spiritual advisors', so since you're in Hongkong, don't miss out of 黃大仙。

But when PAP comes to me, they will fail through my obstacles. My voting slip is the deciding fate enough to overwhelm their secret ploy. I hope every Singaporean follow my step.

Doubt so lah... Based on yest's ST report when they say the economic outlook still looks cloudy, I doubt they wanna call for an election soon. The earliest would be in Dec. But if I'm not mistaken, we're supposed to elect a new President this year right? Anyone can confirm?

Has anyone know if Tan Kin Lian will be applying for presidential post? What about Leong Sze Hian, he might want to consider being the president too. At least both are independent and not like the current black puppet well-fed and uncompassonate about Singaporeans.
