Okay...this is my message to noobs who are planning to buy their IT stuff at SITEX:

For IT shows like SITEX, COMEX etc:

Before the show:

Do your homework...the floor plans and brochures are available here: http://itfairsg.com/sitex2012/
However do take note the prices on the brochures are subjected to changes during the event as they may slash prices when demand is poor...so just use that as a guide and go to the show to find out the actual selling price for the day....you may get cheaper prices and more freebies on the spot, especially in their hourly specials....

When you are doing to your shopping, take note of the following:

1) Double-check with the promoters present that all prices advertised are inclusive of GST. All prices advertised/listed in any media should be inclusive of GST and if got booth there who tries to scam you by adding in GST on top of the advertised/display prices , gather the hard evidence and make a report to IRAS.
2) Check if they charged extra for using credit card or nets..some fucking retailers do charge extra but never bother to inform you....if you are paying cash, draw your money first before you go down to Suntec City becos all the ATMs there got long queue...
3) Before you pay, make doubly sure there is existing stock available Some retailers like to use this tactic of only informing customers that it is out of stock only after payment made.
4) If they tell you that they will upgrade the RAM for you, make sure they do it in front of you...also ask for name of the sales person who promise you the any upgrade because there are many dispute in the past about this issue.
5) check and ask about the warranty.. like whether it is manufacturer warranty or retailers warranty...also whether is it on-site or carry-in warranty...for eg Dell monitor is on-site warranty...etc. Some warranty are registered online while some you have to submit the warranty card. If you are unsure, call with the sales office of the brand. Normally for big brands, warranty are registered online nowadays. However do note that for extended warranty, normally warranty card are given...like Samsung. Do be wary of smaller retailers offering their own shop warranty as they often do not honour them and often push customers back to the manufacturers. IF YOU ARE BUYING CHINA MADE TABLET, THE WARRANTY GIVEN BY SELLER ARE ALL BOGUS....DO NOT BELIEVE THEIR LIES ABOUT 1-YEAR WARRANTY...THEIR MEANING OF WARRANTY MEANS THEY WILL HELP YOU TO SEND IT BACK TO CHINA FOR REPAIR AT YOUR OWN COST....
6) Dont forget to redeem your free gift immediately, lots of ppl so anxious after getting their buys gone straight home and then return the next day only to find that all free gifts are fully redeemed.
7) For you laptop, check your configure before you go home, if it is stated 6gb ram or 1gb graphic card, switch on the computer and check the computer hardware properties to verify on the spot. Also check that the CPU, Storage and Window version are advertised. If there is any problem, you can confront the retailer immediately. VERY IMPORTANT: Check that it is a brand new set, not used set – check for tell-tale signs like fingerprint, scratches, dents. New set should boot up to setup screen, not immediately the operating system. Also check the folders to find if there is any documents, pictures, video loaded. Newstead was caught before selling used laptop with legal documents store inside to customers as new.
8) Know your rights under the Lemon Law.

WARNING:

1) Never buy from these retailers who have consistent track record of scamming customers: Newstead/MC2/@notebook, Audio House, Ray Technology, CH, Gain City... Check the floor plans in the links I have provided above to find where they are and avoid them. Newstead have many booths there, so becareful.
2) Forget about doing trade-in with PC-Dreams, they will try to bluff customers by advertising high value for your computer, but then when you bring it there, they will try to chop you and value it, you will get better prices selling it yourself on the internet.

Thats all for now...adios.... GOODBYE TO ALL! :p:p:p:p:p:oIo::oIo::oIo::oIo::oIo:

that is one reason, i find ipad unable to run office very inconvenient.

But a little too heavy at 1.2 kg. wonder if there is any windows 8 pro tablet convertible under 1 kg? I like to be able to surf lying on bed, and sometimes go into full PC mode to do certain online transactions or office work. I don't like to maintain a tablet and a laptop.

iPad is too dumbed down. I feel like a prisoner of apple virtual jail system.
