Singapore: The PAP knows that its days are numbered.
Actually, in their hearts, senior PAP know tt their DAYS R NUMBERED... dat is why they play populist card. They know strawberry generation is very very clever (so much tuition, cannot be stoopid rite), everything also open google to check, double confirm, so the PAP old tricks no longer will work (e.g. concept of 'freehold HDB', 'sure win lottery public housing for all', 'appreciating asset (HDB)' (Ref 1) yada yada yada).
Anybody with common sense can see GDP slowing n maybe even go in reverse because their generals failed to support their 6.9million population white paper (one Desmond Kwek incharge of SMRT tried to perform a water flotation test on loaded passenger train during normal operation hours: ended up short circuit entire operation and system down for over 22hours (Ref 2).
So basically one big GDP pillar (fast population growth strategy) overnight gone so suddenly.
The only people who definitely will support PAP are those who in PM LHL NDR2018 words: HDB BTO AMK flat value rose 16x ($25k to $400k) in 40 years (Ref 3). But because many Sinkees like to makan but stressful lifestyle so have many chronic disease problems, high cancer incidence, might prematurely die or become senile, PAP is grasping at straws to keep the Pioneer and now Merdeka generation alive for as long as possible even though someone above ('Darwinson' said:"The sad thing is that govt is going ‘handouts’ route. They increase gst which is mostly going to pave way for freebies")i.e. tt increase in GST is actually to increase welfare handouts... Basically PAP knows that it is an obsolete political party with obsolete, dynastic ideology ... the same obsolete dynastic ideology that caused bad blood between the PM Lee HL and his 2 siblings... a cult that in the long run, Singaporeans will grow to learn, has outlived its own contribution to nationhood.
Like the video in 24:00 (Ref 4 [YouTube video]), DPM Tharman admitted (implied) that the only thing unique and exceptional about Singapore is the world's highest Cabinet salary, (explicitly) every other PAP gahmen policy/ programme is COPIED from somewhere else in the world.
Maintaining the sacred alter of the LKY cult is both an exorbitant and costly exercise and will damage its adherents just like it fractured the Lee siblings relationship.
Ditto, pouring unlimited funding into expensive last ditch medical care to prolong lives by just days/minutes just so a loyal PAP generation can continue to vote for the PAP as reflexively as they have always done will be a very costly exercise that will compromise PAP investment in Gen Z (Strawberry generation)...
Strawberries r a generation more eloquent, more well read with better internet access and technology than I. The PAP knows that Strawberries judgement of the PAP under 3/4G (PM Lee HL) leadership will be harsh, but in desperation, 3/4G PAP will pay, squander/gamble their last dollar on keeping Pioneer, Merdeka or even some Majullah generation on life support because when Strawberry generation (incl Gen Y new citizens) arrive at the polling booth, based on current policies and PAP track record, PAP certainly will not be their first choice.
