for example, government who is using GIC and CPF fund can easily invest in casinos who are operating in oversea.
isnt it the same?

sadly, our PM second wife, Ho Ching never do that and instead he squandered off our hard earned cpf via poorly executed investment strategy.

Investing in Casinos overseas does not bring in the multiplier effect of having foreigners actually visiting Singapore to gamble.

When they arrive, they don't just gamble. They eat, take taxis, book hotel rooms, pay airport taxes, shop etc. Everyone benefits from their presence.

The best example of how the multiplier effect works is in Las Vegas which is built around gambling. 30 BILLION dollars is injected into the economy annually by visitor spending. If the casinos were closed down. More than half a million people would be out of work the next day.

And how would I get my jet ski to the East Coast? Towing a trailer isn't allowed in Singapore. If I bought a jet ski in Singapore, I'd have to join a Marina to berth the damned thing. In NZ, it's safely stored in my garage.
