TRS Xiang Leng says the driver of an illegally-parked car was involved in a loud argument with a parking warden. Police were eventually called to the scene to intervene.

The incident had occurred outside the Pasir Ris Family Clinic at Block 223 today (Nov 17) at about 12pm.

He commented:

"The car driver, I think, was not happy about being booked by the old uncle parking warden.

"Things ended in an argument, almost fighting. The driver also pushed the warden's face.

"We were passers-by at the road, and heard that the driver of the Honda was a patient of the Family Clinic.

"He had parked illegally, outside the clinic, presumably very sick.

"The driver was seen to be takening pictures of one of the warden and pushing the warden face, as we saw from afar.

"There was a loud commotion for almost 30 minutes.

"Three police cars came later, with four uniformed police officers, and two more plainclothes police, making a total of six officers,
two wardens and the illegally-parked sick driver involved.

"Many neigbours came out to watch as the commotion attracted many people.

"This driver has the cheek to park illegally and then challenge the warden to a fight.

"Aiyah, got money to buy car, no money to pay for coupon parking. Maybe he thought he was sick, so he could fight it and be let off.

"We think it was the two wardens who called the Police. One police car left later, and one warden was clearly keeping away from the argument.

"We heard someone say 'Wrong is wrong. You parked illegally. If you were so sick, you could have gone to the Accident and Emergency'.

"Is Singapore a safe place anymore? Why are there so many road bullies nowadays?

"Claiming to be sick or visiting a doctor means you can bully wardens and can escape punishment?"

Editor's Note:
Should we apply a light touch on this incident as well MP Seah?
