[h=1]2015-08-01: Pesta Raya SG50[/h]Updated last Saturday · Taken at Blk 188a Rivervale Drive
In a grassroots first, residents of Hougang and Punggol East came together to celebrate Hari Raya at Pesta Raya SG50 with mirth and joy! Joining us in the festivities on Saturday, 1st August were the MPs for Hougang and Punggol East, Mr Png Eng Huat and Ms Lee Li Lian, who were ushered in with a rousing traditional kompang performance. The crowd was treated to the melodious musical prowess of the very accomplished Rozie Rahim as they tucked themselves into a delectable array of Malay dishes. In the true spirit of SG50 and in celebration of our multi-racial Singaporean community, three ethnically Chinese residents impressed the audience with their rendition of the aptly titled Orang Singapura, a Malay song.
We may be from different constituencies and, indeed, different races but our commemoration of Hari Raya was a display of a uniquely Singaporean way of life worth celebrating as our nation lies on the brink of its golden jubilee.
