[h=1]2015.07.12: 1Day Kukup and Durian Tour[/h]Updated about 2 weeks ago

We set off early in the morning of Sunday, 12th July as our 8 buses made their way to Kukup, a fishing town along the western coast of Johor, Malaysia.

Along the way, we visited a chocolate factory and a biscuit shop where we tried out a variety of local treats, before enjoying a buffet of the king of fruits - delectable durians - for lunch! Kukup's kelongs offered us a peek into the lifestyle of the fishermen of the area - a way of life rarely seen in Singapore today. We even had time for shopping before tucking in to tempt our tastebuds with a fresh seafood dinner, complete with crabs.

A memorable Sunday getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life!

[h=1]2015-08-01: Pesta Raya SG50[/h]Updated 3 hours ago · Taken at Blk 188a Rivervale Drive

In a grassroots first, residents of Hougang and Punggol East came together to celebrate Hari Raya at Pesta Raya SG50 with mirth and joy! Joining us in the festivities on Saturday, 1st August were the MPs for Hougang and Punggol East, Mr Png Eng Huat and Ms Lee Li Lian, who were ushered in with a rousing traditional kompang performance. The crowd was treated to the melodious musical prowess of the very accomplished Rozie Rahim as they tucked themselves into a delectable array of Malay dishes. In the true spirit of SG50 and in celebration of our multi-racial Singaporean community, three ethnically Chinese residents impressed the audience with their rendition of the aptly titled Orang Singapura, a Malay song.

We may be from different constituencies and, indeed, different races but our commemoration of Hari Raya was a display of a uniquely Singaporean way of life worth celebrating as our nation lies on the brink of its golden jubilee.

Whenever I come across infants or toddlers during my house visits or MPS, I will be naturally reminded of my own daughter, Karys.
As parents, we are always concerned about the well being of our child. Therefore it is certainly a relief to hear Minister Tan CJ said that the ministry is considering harmonizing the benefits for single parents.
As mentioned in my last COS speech on single parents, I find it ridiculous that we are even discussing this. Married or single, they are parents.

This is an album dedicated to some of the residents in Punggol East whom I managed to pose with for pictures despite a hectic campaign schedule the past 9 days. Thank you for your support!
Will continue to add pictures to this album during my term as MP in Punggol East SMC.
