Quote:SINGAPORE: Two men between the age of 24 and 25 have been arrested by the police on Saturday afternoon (Apr 4).

According to the police, the duo had turned up in front of the Istana with placards at about 4pm. Channel NewsAsia understands that duo were holding signs that read “You can’t silence the people” and “Injustice” for about half an hour. They were clad in red hoodies and dark-blue jeans.

Police also said that both of them had refused to stop the activity despite requests from the officers. As such, they were arrested for organising a public assembly without permit, under Section 16(1)(a) of the Public Order Act, Chapter 257A.

Channel NewsAsia also understands that the two men are not affiliated to any groups or organisations. Police investigations are ongoing.

Nobody will remember them a few weeks later. And he had criminal records which employers will remember for the rest of his life.

what if they were holding placards that read "LKY is my God" and "I love PAP". some people should try that. there could be double standards in the law enforcement.

WOW! The cops left them alone for half and hour before acting, which they had no choice but to do so.

I think the cops were being quite reasonable. The poor cops actually might be scolded/ reprimanded by their govt overlords for not acting swiftly enough, North Korean style.

The law: Section 16(1)(a) of the Public Order Act, Chapter 257A is fucked. The cops were alright here. They have no choice. They are SWORN to uphold the rule of law, even stupid laws like this and Section 377A, the "derivative" of the British anti-buggery law dating back to the mid 1500's.

the key is the placards I think. If the duo just stand there without any cards, think nothing will happen lah
