It is a rather pure kinetic energy weapon and very limited in terms of having vast verity of ammunitions. I don't think Rail Guns will replace normal guns. It is too restricted and the normal guns are too versatile and cheap.

On the otherhand, normal shells are theoretically interceptable but not practical at all. Your interception cost is 10000X higher than the cheap shells.
