Her blog centres around fashion, beauty and lifestyle.

Her followers are more likely to be young and less interested in serious or preachy content.

Yet, Miss Beatrice Tan (above, centre) is being paid to help the Singapore Police Force in its recruitment drive.

But two blog entries last week show the 24-year-old ditching her usual pretty frocks for a polo-tee-and-track-pants get up.

She was invited by the police to a visit over two days, on Jan 29 and Feb 6, to reflect on various vocations in the force.

Also invited were two other fashion, beauty and lifestyle bloggers, Miss Yina Goh, 25, and Miss Rachell Tan, 22.

Read the full report in The New Paper on Saturday (May 25).

After the CL Finals @ 04.30HRS GMT+8 u will see this.

Anyone know if SPF have any naturalized Ah Tiong or ATB . I know conscripts in the army have but yet to see a regulars.

If dedicated officers leaves after one contract or contemplating to leave is the common phenomenon the past few years in SPF; there must be a lot of underlying dissatisfaction or resentments within the system.

But seriously, using professional models as role models for recruitment drive is really down to the pits. Even the SAF would not resort to that to my knowledge. I really wonder where is the pride and honor of a force anymore.

Malaysians are even accepted into the police force now.
Why not Ah Tiongs or ATBs with pink ICs?

What the SPF are doing are worse then prostitution
As bad as those unspeakable kangaroos in gowns and wigs.

Holding sinkies down to be screwed and gang raped by LKY and his cockroaches in white.

Recall the S'goon Gdns resident who voiced concern about lack of Police patrol in her estate and Police station only open for business at 12pm [1st in world]

She was told "due lack of manpower", what is your solution madam?" She ans "OK give me your salary and I find solution!

Roll-Out Of Community Policing System And West Coast Protectors
http://www.spf.gov.sg/mic/2013/130106_cops_launch_others.htm

Clementi NPC’s current police-community partnership programmes include Delta Citizenry (DC) for Clementi Citizens Consultative Committees ( CCC ) and Bukit Timah United (BTU) for Bukit Timah CCC .

WCP aspires to bring the “kampong spirit” back in the neighbourhood where residents pro-actively help to protect their own neighbourhood by keeping a look out for one another. Other than the residents, students, shop owners and stakeholders of West Coast Neighbourhood will also be roped in to be part of WCP.

All members will attend crime prevention training sessions to equip them with the knowledge and skills to observe the environment and prevent, detect and deter potential perpetrators. They will also be trained to conduct terrain audits in the neighbourhood so they can alert the relevant authorities on any security or safety lapses. To build cohesiveness and further enhance the “kampung spirit”, there will also be regular get-together sessions and appreciation functions organised for the members.

Should there be a specific crime related concern in the neighbourhood, members will be mobilised to do their part either in the dissemination of crime prevention advisories or performing Citizens-On-Patrol ( COP ) rounds.

Re: Oh dear.. SPF is unable to find people with passion to sign up & have to use mode

Those with 5 O Levels, Diploma holders are just not streetwise enough to become policemen unlike in the olden days of the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s..

The present poodles are all spectacle wearing softies who were never involved in any fights before..

These Policemen from those bygone eras had limited educations but were tough cops who knew how to handle the SS in S'pore..

Why can't the SPF lower the entry level requirements?

I'm sure many of our streetwise youths who didn't have the required 5 Os will be interested to join the SPF but were rejected because of they didn't meet the required education criteria..

In fact, should just give chance to students with just N Levels, ITE certs..

Then make them sign a bond and send them for classes to upgrade themselves.. SPF can also replicate the SAF- ITE army scholarships.. In no time, many young people would join the SPF and solve their manpower shortage..

Your method involve long term planning, investing money and time before results can be seen.
Pappies prefer to take the cheapest and easiest way out.
Dun be fooled by such reports....the agenda is to highlight the 'chronic shortage' of manpower so they can again blame it on sinkies for being choosy and further open floodgates to more FTs. As it is now PRs can join the police force. Expect them to take in work permit FTs next.

Actually of all law enforcement functions, SPF gets the cream of the crop. There are so many TV shows, movies on law enforcement genre and the notion of good over evil is natural advertisement. In fact the number of applications are vast each year.

The problem is holding on to them - the attrition rate is very high. The job is demanding. Imagine handling stupid people calling the police to handle a drunk, handling domestic issues between in-laws, grassroots arseholes calling about mangoes stolen.

The ones who barely make the entry requirements can't handle the paperwork as they progress thru the ranks. AG, Judiciary and even the press will complain about quality. The foreign forces will also complain. They start shivering when handling ang mos. They go to court and their pants fall off.

Interestingly mission school boys and girls are a natural as they have a better command of the English language and more worldly. But it is a political nightmare if they say they prefer mission school boys and would lower the grades.

The Malaysian are also likely to stay longer for obvious reasons.

By the way, after Police Training and Police work, you become an asset to many organisation. For example, a warehouse operator would get more bang for his buck if he hired an ex cop who was a Sgt as his warehouse supervisor or coordinator. The guy will know how handle the staff, plan and coordinate things etc. MHA has seen this. Once a private organisation dips into the Police pool, you can see more leaving.

Applies to young and middle aged ones.

And the Malaysians can also be found in working in our Prison Institutions as Junior Officers.. Many times their on the ball attitude created awkward tensions between them and the local inmates..
