[h=2]NUS Law student Alvin Tan from Malaysia: My scholarship saves me more than $50,000 a year[/h]Posted by temasektimes on October 18, 2012
While native Singaporeans have to fight tooth and nail to get into NUS Faculty of Law, one Malaysian student has the work cut short for him with an ASEAN scholarship to study there for four years entirely FREE OF CHARGE, thanks to the ‘generosity’ of Singapore taxpayers.
24 year old Alvin Tan, a third year undergraduate in NUS Law, became an instant ‘celebrity’ lately by posting explicit photos and videos of him having sex with his girlfriend on his blog.
Despite the massive controversy he stirred, he appeared nonchalant when interviewed by the Malaysian media on his scholarship and study in NUS:
“My scholarship saved me $50,000 in tuition fees and $6,000 in living expenses yearly. I do not have to pay a single cent in Singapore,” he proclaimed.
When asked if he is worried he may get expelled from NUS for his ‘exploits’, Alvin Tan said:
“I don’t really care if NUS take action against me. I am prepared to be expelled. Anyway, I have set up my own company here (in Malaysia) and is financially secure.”
Alvin Tan, who came from a relatively wealthy family in Malaysia, came to study in Sin Ming secondary school in Singapore on a ASEAN scholarship after which he went on to study in Raffles Junior College and NUS.
The ASEAN scholarship pays for ALL the tuition fees and living expenses of its foreign scholars and is BOND-FREE.

[h=2]NUS Law student from Malaysia Alvin Tan: I will continue to share my sex videos with the public[/h]Posted by temasektimes on October 18, 2012
Despite the massive storm he stirred by posting photos and videos of him having sex with his girlfriend on his blog, NUS Law student and ASEAN scholar from Malaysia Alvin Tan remains unfazed by the publicity and is adamant that he did nothing wrong.

In a self-recorded video clip which was uploaded to Youtube yesterday, Alvin Tan said he would continue to share videos of him having sex with his girlfriend with the public at a later date and explained that he took down his blog temporarily because of intense ‘family pressure’.
He also scoffed at suggestions that the police will take action against him for distributing obscene materials online:
“I don’t think the police is so free….As for the lawyers who warned that I may be charged, they are only doing so for cheap publicity.”
He added he and his girlfriend did not do anything around and therefore they see no need to apologize to the public before clarifying that his girlfriend is a ’100% woman’ as she ‘bleeds every month.’
Alvin Tan came to Singapore when he was 14 years old and has received 10 years of FREE EDUCATION, thanks to the generosity of Singapore taxpayers.

She and National
University of Singapore
(NUS) law scholar Alvin Tan Jye Yee have been the
talk of the town -- on both sides of the Causeway.

Vivian Lee, 23, has
been feature on tabloids, newspapers and online media in recent days for posting sexually-explicit photos and videos of herself and Tan on
their personal blog
“Sumptuous Erotica”, which has since been taken down.

But speaking to Yahoo! Singapore on Thursday, the Malaysian said she has
no regrets about showing her private and sexual life to the world. Having said
that, she admitted the blog was taken down due to “family pressure”.

“It’s not because we wanted to take down the blog but both our families
were pressing us to do so. We were cool with the situation but my family was
embarrassed and unhappy about it,” said Lee over the phone from Johore
Bahru.

“My parents told me that I should have kept my personal life
private and I didn’t need to show it to the world. I just thought: It’s my own
life, why can’t you be more open about it?” recounted Lee, who was pictured on
the blog in various states of undress.

On her Malaysian boyfriend Tan,
Lee said they have been dating for six months and said it was lust at first
sight.

"We had sex on our first meeting because we hit it off so well,"
confessed Lee.

On how their blog started, Lee said they got the idea
after their nude photos on Facebook kept getting flagged and reported.

“We didn’t do it for the attention but for personal enjoyment. I have to
clear this up because people keep thinking we were seeking attention but in
fact, it was the attention that found us,” she insisted.

On the website,
the couple said they loved posting about their sex life on the web “for everyone
to enjoy” and that they upload only self-made content.

Some of the
explicit photos on their blog showed the couple's naked bodies or body parts,
and one showed a blood-stained sanitary pad. Home-made videos posted online
include a make-believe rape scene and the couple having sex.

Lee
admitted she was shocked when she found out that the link for “Sumptuous
Erotica” was spreading like wildfire and going viral on local Singaporean blogs.

“Most of our followers are from US and UK, the western parts of the
world. We don’t have a huge following in Asia but someone
from Asia found our blog and first posted it on the fuckwarezone forum, and it
circulated from there. The link got to game sites and other forums after that;
but from there everything went crazy,” she recalled.

She also
said that she took the news rather calmly because there was nothing else she
could do. The consequences of putting up such a site also did not occur to Lee
but she admits that she is a little worried about the legal issues surrounding
the situation.

“I am a little fearful but not that threatened. It is
slightly worrying, but we can face it. If it comes to us then we’ll take it as
it is but for now let nature take its course. I’m not affected by what is
happening regarding our posts too,” said the graduate from a Malacca
university.

Lee says she is currently looking for a job but also enjoying
her life “spending (her) free time cooking, hanging out with men and meeting
Tan”.

“Some have called us brave, some say we are shameless but I don’t
care about what my family or society thinks about me. I’m living my life as it
is,” Lee said.

This blog is a much better read:

About
The adventures of a Chinese girl in Singapore and the rest of the world.

This is a personal blog about awesome sex, tragic romances, and wonderful friendships. It's also often about crazy shit, love stacks, and getting into a lot of trouble.

Sex in Singapore? Here are the rules.

It always starts with the eyes.

Whether it's across a dance floor, on campus, in the office or at a religious service, the eyes have it. Then a smile, followed by an almost imperceptible shift in body language. So the conversation starts, and after that, anything goes.
But attitudes towards sex in Singapore can be strangely contradictory. We get all puffed up and outraged about the morals of young people whenever someone posts a Youtube video of youths in school uniform making out in public, but scantily clad women (some as young as 18) are free to sing, strut and even pole dance at getai (over the top live performances with gaudy costumes) events whenever the Hungry Ghost Festival comes around. Such performances are traditionally meant to entertain the spirits who are believed to roam the earth during this period, but the crowds they attract tend to be of the flesh and blood variety, and almost exclusively male and middle-aged.

In everyday conversations, even among young, educated, cosmopolitan Singaporeans, sex is often a taboo topic spoken of in hushed tones. The attitude seems to be: everybody is doing it, but we don't want to be the first ones to admit it. As public relations consultant Rachel Ang, 26, notes: "Talking about sex is like airing dirty laundry. Not everyone's going to take it the right way."

Official attitudes tend to focus on the functional aspects of sex, namely procreation. Despite monetary incentives from the government, birth rates here have been steadily falling, in common with many industrialised nations. This is partly due to birth control policies of the 1970s, when couples were told to "stop at two". Official statistics also show that more people are marrying later or staying single. particularly those who have attained at least a university degree.

And the authorities are ever eager to lend a helping hand, especially in the form of the dreaded Social Development Network, first set up in 1984 to promote marriages between graduate singles. The moment you graduate from university, no matter if you are single or attached, you begin receiving flyers from the SDN urging you to join in their activities so you can find a partner, get married and start procreating. These range from speed dating events, salsa dance classes, photography workshops and even events exclusively for Christian singles.

There aren't many people around who would admit that they attend these events. After all, it used to be known as the Social Development Unit (SDU) - or as the old joke would have it, Single, Desperate and Ugly.

For some, it helps if you are co-religionists. Businessman Chris Quek and his wife Alicia, both 32 and Christians, met through mutual friends and now attend the same church. The couple married in 2009 and just had their first child. "I was always looking for someone of the same faith," says Mr Quek. "When I went out with non-Christian girls, whenever I broached the topic of religion, it was very difficult to see eye to eye."

He adds: "It is definitely easier to meet someone in church, and I have seen a lot of people within the same church community who get together. After all, church is a very comfortable setting where you can talk to each other without the expectation that you have to go on a date."

It gets more complicated for those who do not fit into the traditional (i.e. governmental) definition of a family unit. Under Section 377A of the Penal Code, inherited from our former colonial masters, sexual intercourse between two men is still classified as a criminal act. But authorities officially said some years ago that they would not actively enforce the law. And while there are openly gay media personalities, prominent academics and even civil servants, media reports tend to skirt around the fact, usually describing them as "single" or "bachelors". It is all rather reminiscent of the now-extinct United States military policy of "don't ask, don't tell".

Kenneth (not his real name), who works in the media and is in his 30s, comes from a devout Christian family. He has been dating his engineer boyfriend for almost two years, but both their families remain unaware of their sexual orientation. Oddly enough, he says dating is down to a "logistical" issue.

He notes: "We can't hang out at each other's houses and watch TV. Staying with our families is out of the question, and even going to a hotel can be an issue. So it's a highly discreet issue."

Kenneth says he has chosen not to come out of the closet simply because he does not want to deal with people's judgement.

"I do know couples who stay with their families and they have come to accept it. Some people are very out and very open, but people like us are very cautious, as it can affect our careers. The people closest to me know and that's enough."

So there you have it - sex in my city: it's complicated.

Rais: Govt monitoring Singapore's handling of 'porn blog' scandal

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia will leave it to Singapore to handle the "erotic porn blog" situation for now, said Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim.

The Information, Communications and Culture Minister said, however, that the ministry was actively monitoring the situation.

He was referring to Malaysian couple Alvin Tan and Vivian Lee who had set up a blog called Sumptuous Erotica that featured their sex lives.

The blog, which had postings of raunchy and graphic images, quickly became a media sensation in Singapore and Malaysia.

Tan, an Asean scholar and law student at the National University of Singapore, is expected to face a disciplinary hearing later this month.

"We have legal redress under Section 233 and 263 of the Communications and Multimedia Act. But we would rather not use that first until and unless we get the results of what the Singaporean authorities are pursuing first,” Dr Rais told reporters after lauching the promotional campaign for U-Pustaka here Thursday.

Stressing that "we are not going to be quiet about it" when it came to taking action on the matter, he said this was the time for Malaysians to come forth and show that they did not condone such behaviour.

However, he acknowledged that Tan and Lee's quick action in blocking further access to their blog by making it private was a good move.

"They were rather fast in acting and have blocked the access to the original display. Perhaps in this respect, they thought there was no more abuse under the law," he said, adding that if they had also blocked secondary channels of access, this was also in line with their freedom of choice.

They should allow porn production in Singapore. With Gambling being leegalised there is nothing wrong with showing and producing porn its just a way of life. I suggest we get Jack neo to direct as a porntree production. We can also get Alvin and vivian as the main actors, special appearance by Annael chong with consultant Sam leong on special advisor.
