Executive Decision

Think that's the title. The pacing and the tension makes the latest Batman movie feel like crap. Well I feel the latest Batman movie is crap. Over-hyped, under delivered.

Movies should be judge by the genres the are in. Theres no way to compare a
science fiction to a police thriller.

I feel that the makers of The Dark Knight movie wanted to move away from the cartoonish past Batman movies.

I definately prefered the story of the Dark Knight to the Iron Man movie. Although the latter is more entertaining, I do see Iron man becoming more like the 80s Batman films with nothing else but colourful sets and special effects.

Taxi Driver (1978) Directed by Martin Scorsese, starring Rober de Niro (again!), Jodie Foster, Cybil Shephard
Classics, this with Deer Hunter and Pulp Fiction. TD was indelible (to me) with urban loneliness etc. Jodie's teeanage break I think.

Don't disagree. Batman's more human interest or drama, more welcome shift than fantasy:p

have not seen "executive decision" yet... care to share more...

GOOD! Dun waste your time on this one.... touted as a Steven Seagal movie but he only appeared in the movie for like 3 - 4 mins in a cameo role as a Special Forces Commander...... for the rest of the movie you'll get to see Kurt Russell in one of his worst movies:(

My fav

1) Gattaca http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0119177/
Is a man is truly the sum of his genes, or could his spirit somehow carry him beyond all expectations?
A excellent thought provoking science fiction movie. How much would you be willing to go and to what extent to achieve your dreams? Should man tamper with God's work, and whether the result would be a better society, or a better humanity.

2) Battle Royale ( Japan) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0266308/maindetails
Look beyond the violence, this film is a superb psychological thriller.
The movie is basically asking - how will you face up to life terrifying circumstances when it comes
- will you freeze up early on / lay down and accept your fate, will you lose control and lash out at your perceived enemies? or will you chose to fight to stay alive to the bitter end.
Life is a game so fight for survival and see if you're worth it
and could you kill your best friend?
If you like this film, do read "Stephen King - The Long Walk", the book that probably inspired Battle Royale.

3) Suicide Club (Japan) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0312843/
A haunting psychological movie - either you love it or hate this movie for a crazy art film pretense.
What is your connection to yourself - your family, career, girlfriend, boyfriend, your computer or nothing. What's the thing in your life that made you want to live and not die.
This anti suicide therapy movie might just made one embrace life harder after watching.
I couldn't sleep the whole night after watching this. It heavily affected my mood.

The best movie for me till now is:
Memento - Where the entire movie is played backwards.

Followed by:
The Shawshank Redemption - A jail movie based on a novel by Stephen King.

Classic best:
A clockwork orange - About a man who went through experimental therapy for his violent behavior.

Japanese best:
Seven Samurai - Long (3hr) black/white movie but the storyline is so great that many films copied the story.

There is no gene for the human spirit.

This is an excellent thread. Keep it coming.

It's called Reversal. has several violent scenes in it, including a brutal rape scene.
