I agree on the possibilty of ending up with no trophy in 5 days if the players and manager dun get kicked in the arse.

Every single one of Man Utd supporters loves the GREAT Sir Alex Ferguson,
except that dipstick pundit wanna-be.
From 7th to the 19th record league title
with many more to come.

Premier League: Blackburn 1 Manchester United 1

14 May 2011

Manchester United sealed a record 19th league title with a hard-fought draw against Blackburn Rovers.

Wayne Rooney's equalising penalty in the 70th minute sparked celebrations among the huge away following at Ewood Park as they grabbed yet another Premier League title.

It was also a momentous occasion for United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, who finally overhauled the number of titles won by rivals Liverpool, just as he vowed to do when he took the Old Trafford hotseat 25 years ago.

But while it was unfounded joy for the travelling fans, the result leaves Blackburn looking nervously over their shoulder at the wrong end of the table despite a heroic performance against the champions.

Steve Kean's team now face a potential survival shootout at relegation rivals Wolves on the last day of the season.

A chance came almost straight away for United after Rooney whipped in a superb cross from the right but Nani's header crashed against the crossbar.

Blackburn gave the Reds a fright in the 18th minute when Chris Samba had the ball in the back of the net but he was penalised by referee Phil Dowd for shoving Nemanja Vidic.

Just two minutes later the hosts took the lead after Thomas Kuszczack - replacing Edwin van der Sar - came off his line to fend off Brett Emerton's cross.

But the ball wasn't cleared and Martin Olsson was able to send a cross to the far post where Emerton put it past the nervous keeper.

Javier Hernandez made a clever turn from 20 yards and fired, but keeper Paul Robinson reached low to make a good save.

Another Kuszczack error could have proved fatal, with the Pole taking too long to clear a back pass, giving David Hoilet the chance to slide in and stab the ball just wide.

Following the break, Ryan Giggs fed a well placed shot through two defenders to Hernandez who was running into the box, but the Mexican couldn't get it under control.

Manchester United slowly increased the pressure but Blackburn's defence held out.

A blistering strike by Nani was deflected off Chris Samba's chest and when Valencia found Giggs, Phil Jones threw himself in front of the winger's shot.

At the other end, Olsson made a magnificent climb to head Emerton's cross but he hit the top of the near post.

But United got the point they needed in the 70th minute when Hernandez chased the ball into the area but Robinson made a late challenge and the striker came crashing down.

After a minute-long consultation with his assistant, Dowd awarded the penalty and Rooney converted the spot-kick to rapturous cheers from the away stand.

United approach to 19th title win, says Ferguson

14 May 2011

12427237700.jpg

Sir Alex Ferguson praised his Manchester United team after they secured a 19th English Premier League title with a 1-1 draw at Blackburn.

United had to come from behind at Ewood Park after an error from reserve goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak led to Brett Emerton's opening goal in the 20th minute.

They looked to be heading for a costly shock defeat before Mexico international Javier Hernandez won a penalty after going down under a challenge from Rovers' goalkeeper Paul Robinson.

Wayne Rooney lashed home the spot-kick to make it 1-1 with 17 minutes remaining and United saw out the closing exchanges to capture their fourth title in five seasons.

"It was a fantastic performance by the lads and the supporters and for everybody connected with the club, it's a great day today," Ferguson told Sky Sports.

"It wasn't an easy game. We went 1-0 down having given them a bad goal but we kept on and we don't give in. It looked like it was not going to be our day. We've always had it difficult here."

"It is a local derby and they are fighting for their lives, looking for that point, but we kept going and that's a good quality."

Rooney admitted nerves threatened to get the better of him as referee Phil Dowd delayed in awarding the penalty while consulting with an assistant.

"I was terrified, the ref took a long time to give it," Rooney said.

"I had to compose myself. I'd been practising all week."

"After the year I've had, with the ups and downs, this is for the fans and the team," he added, referring to a high-profile contract dispute and revelations of marital infidelity.

Rooney also managed a dig at Liverpool after United passed their record of 18 English league titles.

"For me personally, being an Everton fan, to win a 19th title is special," he said.

A 0-0 draw away to Blackburn cost United dear last season as Chelsea captured the league title by one point.

They could only manage a draw again on Saturday, but this time it was enough, with centreback Rio Ferdinand satisfied by the team's performance.

"We missed out last year by a point and it was here we pretty much lost the league so it was nice to come back here and get it done," Ferdinand said.

"We gave away a soft goal but we persevered and got our rewards."

"It's a better league this year. Teams have been beating each other from the bottom to the top which makes it more exciting for the fans."

Premier League: Manchester United 4 Blackpool 2
23 May 2011

12427239640.jpg

Blackpool suffered relegation heartbreak on the final day of the season as Manchester United were presented with a record 19th title.

The Tangerines almost pulled off the impossible when they went 2-1 up at Old Trafford, but three second-half goals from the hosts condemned Ian Holloway's side to a 4-2 loss and a return to the Championship.

For United it was a stern test ahead of their Champions League final against Barcelona and was the perfect way to end the season.

Both sides had chances early in the game. Adam's low cross picked out Blackpool team-mate Keith Southern but he dragged his shot wide.

At the other end, Rafael hit a dipping half volley from 20 yards out which stung the palms of keeper Matthew Gilks.

But just when Blackpool thought they were containing the champions, United were ahead in the 21st minute when Dimitar Berbatov flicked the ball onto Park Ji-Sung running into the box and he duly put it past Gilks.

Berbatov could have increased the lead for the hosts after picking the ball up in the area and shooting at close range, but this time Gilks managed to stick a leg out to make the block.

And the Tangerines stunned Old Trafford when they equalised after 40 minutes through talisman Charlie Adam.

Nemanja Vidic fouled Gary Taylor-Fletcher, and from on the edge of the area the Blackpool skipper brilliantly curled the ball over the wall and past Edwin Van der Sar.

Straight after the break Adam almost put Blackpool ahead with another free-kick, but this time Edwin Van der Sar - playing in his last game at Old Trafford - was able to palm his rasping shot over the bar.

Gary Taylor-Fletcher offered up a lifeline when he converted a well-placed cross by Michael Vaughan with a flick into the back of the net in the 57th minute.

But United proved they were not about to go soft on the Seasiders when Anderson replied five minutes later after a neat combination with Park and a shot from 12 yards out.

Blackpool were dealt a crushing blow in the 74th minute when Chris Smalling sent a swinging cross in from the right towards Michael Owen, but defender Ian Evatt stuck a foot out and sent the ball into the back of his own net.

Owen sealed the victory after Anderson threaded a pass through Blackpool's defence and the striker placed it past Gilks.

De Gea rules out quick transfer

26 May 2011

12427240580.jpg

Manchester United's signing of David De Gea to replace Edwin van der Sar is not as clear cut as Sir Alex Ferguson believes.

Atletico Madrid goalkeeper De Gea, has denied the 17 million pounds transfer is a done deal, insisting he will not sign until after the European Under 21 Championships.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson spoke in glowing terms about the 20-year-old earlier this week and speculation in England and Spain suggested De Gea would complete a switch to Old Trafford in the next couple of weeks.

But the Spaniard has baulked at claims a deal has already been struck and wants, instead, to focus on the upcoming Under 21 tournament in Denmark, kicking off on June 11.

De Gea’s lawyer released a statement to Spanish news agency EFE which read: "News has appeared in various media outlets that Atletico Madrid’s David De Gea has signed for Manchester United. I hereby notify you that it is not true a deal has been signed."

"De Gea will not consider the contract extension offer from Atletico or any other offer until June 30 when he has finished his commitments with the Under 21 national team.’

Ferguson has named De Gea as the long-term successor to van der Sar, who will retire after Saturday’s Champions League final against Barcelona.

Speaking after Gary Neville’s testimonial on Tuesday, Ferguson told the club’s official website: "We've been working on it for quite a while. We identified him quite a while back as one we should go for."

"He's a young goalkeeper, very quick, good composure, presence and an outstanding replacement for Van der Sar."

"We were looking for the same type of qualities as Edwin, because the one great quality Edwin always had was his composure and organisational ability."

"With David De Gea, he is very similar that way."

Atletico, who finished this season seventh in La Liga, want to tie De Gea down to a new contract with his existing one running until 2013.

Latest transfer news:

In: Phil Jones from Blackburn and Ashley Young from Villa.
David De Gea from Atletico Madrid reported to be having his medical.

Rumoured to come in: Wesley Snejlder or Luka Modric

Retired: Edwin VDS, Paul Scholes, Gary Neville.

Should retire: Owen Hargreaves, Ryan Giggs (he won't feature much next season anyway) :o

Rumoured to go out: Darren Gibson, Wes Brown, Dimitar Berbatov

Come back from loan: Danny Welbeck, Tom Cleverly, Frederico Macheda

Young is a great signing. Jones was expensive, but he's a good young English player, which is important.

signing Jones means Ferdinand days are numbered.

keep berba...and hopefully they can sign Snejlder. Man U once rule EPL with their midfielders which unfortunately, had dwindled past few seasons.

Barca outplayed them totally with a strong midfield and good passing.

Ferdinand is still first choice, until his injuries prevent him from carrying on.
Signing Jones is for the future, otherwise he would have signed Gary Cahill or someone like that who can take over immediately.
Also to have another defender in view of Brown's departure, and eventually Jones and Smalling will replace Vidic and Ferdinand.

Not sure about Berba, now they have Rooney, Hernandez, Welbeck, Macheda and Owen, he could be expendable.

Phil Jones signing is to provide cover for Ferdinand and Vidic. I suspect the latter may see fewer games next season. Vidic has played more games in the past two seasons than some of the defenders combined. I suspect SAF is also concerned with Johnny Evans's performance last season which is nothing short of a disaster. With Brown leaving, it makes sense to acquire another defender. I'd be interested to know SAF's midfield plans. Btw, wat happened to the interest in Rodwell? It's gone cold and is the deal dead?

Interest in Rodwell has waned. By his own admission, his form last season was poor.
Fergie's midfield plans? Probably Wesley of Inter or Luka of Spurs.

Man City is dipping their fingers into every pie...every player is related to them.

And today's news - they wanna sell Kholarov? The player they spend so much to buy...wah...really they burn money like burning off excess methane from oil wells like that.

I have my reservations about Sami Nasri...he is not that playmaker mould. Buy Modric or Sneijder

Why is it this season, everyone going for British / UK based players? Bcos of UEFA ruling coming?

It will be interesting...Arsenal imploding ...much thanks to Arsene Wenger's insistence of not buying.

Contrary to Blackburn, they wanna buy but no one wants to be associated with the chicken farmers LOL

Nasri will be a very interesting player at the top of a 3 man central midfield. He can dribble and he can play the short killer pass. Chances at that position in Arsenal restricted because of Fabregas and now Wilshere. But his vision not as good as those 2.

Isn't the ruling already in place? 4 homegrown and 8 british grown?
Fergie bought Jones and Young because of the players leaving: Neville, Scholes, and possibly O'Shea, Gibson, Brown, Giggs, etc to follow.

When the reporter asked the Indian woman from Venky running Blackburn why she appointed reserve team coach Steve Keen to replace Sam Allardyce, she pointed to her forehead and said "Because he can think." Hahahahaha

No lah, 3 man central midfield, 2 wingers, 1 striker.
The 3rd man could be Wesley or Luka, but could also be Young or Rooney.
