SINGAPORE - Police yesterday arrested a 21-year-old man suspected of breaking into a residential unit in Hougang Avenue 1.

The 34-year-old victim had left home for work at about 12pm last Friday. When she returned to her flat around 10.30pm, she discovered that her mobile tablet valued at about $2,000 was missing. A police reported was lodged immediately.

It is believed that the suspect might have scaled up the walls to gain access through unsecured windows into the flat.

The suspect will be charged in court tomorrow for housebreaking and theft. If convicted, he could be sentenced up to a maximum of 10 years imprisonment.

Commander of Ang Mo Kio Police Division HQ, Assistant Commissioner of Police Keok Tong San advised residents to be secure their premise windows and doors before leaving home.
