Malaysian Sandra Lim was crowned first runner-up in the Miss Global 2022 beauty pageant in Bali, Indonesia, but the 21-year-old won praise and the hearts of many because of how she rushed to help someone who fell on stage at the finals of the pageant last Saturday.

A video that was uploaded by @instafashionpageant on social media platform TikTok,captured the noble act: a presenter fell off the stage after presenting an the third runner up, Miss Lithuania, her award and Lim, dressed in her full-length gown and stilletos, rushed over and crouched down to see if the gentleman was alright. Several others also rushed over to help the fallen man get up.

The video has been shared thousands of times accross social media platforms with many praising the young winner for the concern she showed and her quick response.

"When everyone was frozen and shocked, you rushed without a second thought to help. You truly embody the kind spirit of Malaysians," wrote one user.

"Miss Malaysia pemenang sesunguh nya (sic)" (Miss Malaysia is the real winner), said one user.

"Salut banget sama Miss Malaysia... kenapa bukan dia aja yg Winner?" (Respect to Miss Malaysia... why wasn't she crowned the winner), said another.

"malaysia empati nya tinggi sekali, good (sic)" (Malaysia showed a lot of empathy, good" said another.

The KL-born and former national sparring athlete was among 62 contestants at the Miss Global 2022 pageant at the Nusa Dua Convention Centre in Bali.

Shane Tormes from the Philippines was crowned Miss Global 2022.

In her Instagram page, Lim congratulated the pageant winner and thanked Malaysians for their support.

In her Instagram account @sandralimsh, Lim graciously congratulated Tormes who she referred to as "my big sister".

"I'm proud of you for closing your chapter with the perfect full-stop!

Having 11 years experience in beauty pageants, you truly embodies a queen and made it seem so effortless! Enjoy your reign as Miss Global, I know you will do amazingly," said Lim in her post.

She also thanked the national director of the pageant and others who have helped her in her "journey". Lim also dedicated her win to all Malaysians.

"Malaysia, we did it! We've made history. This moment is for you as much as it is for me. Malaysia Boleh!" she said. Lim is the first Malaysian to win a title in the pageant since it was founded in 2011.
