This is no ordinary air disaster. No distress signal was given out by the pilots.
Yes very strange situation.

The flight is in early morning which is total darkness. Probably some error in the instrumentation and pilot trusted the reading with plane flying off course. Remember saw a similar case but visibility was better and pilot was able to send out distress signal when he saw the mountain.

It has been quite sometime already. If wreckage is in the sea, it will be easier to spot. If in mountain and totally off course, then locating it will be very difficult.

The aircraft heading was also a contributory factor. The were going offtrack towards Soviet sensitive area.

Soviet was testing some secretive equipments and tot the Korean airliner was a USAAF electronic gathering aircraft. Also both use the same Boeing model and the pilot turn off the interior lights of airliner giving the soviet fighter pilot the impression it trying to hide.

Look like plane crash will be 100% RIP. 18 hour have pass and still not found crash site and in the sea or location.

This is really unacceptable with technology so advance. Sure have GPS last coordinate before signal lost or plane lost from radar detection.
So what really happen why no last radar detect before gone. Sure Malaysia/Thai/Vietnam have radar detection in that area. But for GPS most likely not install for transfering coordinate to ATC.

Quite incredulous that after almost 18 hours that we are no closer to knowing what happen th that flight.

If crash in sea, sure will have alot of debris floating in the sea. Currents and wind might have swept the debris away, but knowing the prevailing conditions should help the search teams to narrow the search area.

"....At least two names on a passenger list released by Beijing police appeared to have been redacted, with the names pixillated out, leading to online speculation that they could have been ethnic Uighurs, a Muslim people from the restive far western Chinese region of Xinjiang.

The government has not confirmed this, and it was not possible to reach Beijing police for comment." REUTERS
