hi maybe you should ask our active trader, krafty. he will tell you more.
well, as for your capital 90-100k and expect 6-8k per month trading profit. you are expecting monthly yield 8-10% and compute to yearly yield 100%.

which i think it is impossible to achieve.well, i have capital 320k and only able to yield about 5-7% .

i also join some of other investment forum, well, i think the shares they are discussing mainly for dividend yield and long term holding.

maybe krafty and uvwxyz can give you better advice. i am a conservative investor and low expectation investor.
expect only capital protection with 4-6% yield yearly.

and from the bottom of my heart, i think you buy too big and a bit like gambling. i hope that i am not offence you, well, play so big, contra so big.
may ended up losing big.

hope that you can huat in your investment:smile:

Thanks for your reply.

Well I WAS able to achieve BIG gains with my then-style of 1-2 cent movement on huge volume trading my HSI warrants and penny counters once-upon-a-time
And I was hoping that I’ll still be able to do so today - except now no more contra etc and must use my portfolio capital as the capital instead etc - maybe need to look into the cheaper Catalist counters [so can buy many lots]

One of my previously trading friends is now doing this
Instead of doing her own trading, she opened an account with Citibank with minimum 200k and let the personal banker advise her on the much-better unit trusts [when to sell/switch etc]
She says she put 150k into a recommended unit trust [something with Dragon in its name] and have been getting $800 per month with it - and 50k in another where she gets $150 per month
{I know from my Prudential Ins friend that Prudential also has quite a good Bond Fund with monthly payouts .... }
So altogether getting $950 per month from her 200k
Now I DON’T have that 200k minimum to begin with - and I also find the sums NOT attractive enough as would prefer something that can generate maybe around 10x more per month

why semb marine and semb corp drop?

uvwxyz

Today’s Focus

• SembCorp Marine - Brace for tougher times ahead,
downgrade to HOLD with lower target price of S$3.80

SembCorp Marine reported 3Q14 results below our estimates;
EBIT margin was compressed to 10.0%. We have trimmed
FY14-15F profit forecasts by 4-5% after revising down repair
revenue and newbuild margins. We expect more headwinds
ahead. The Rigbuilding sector faces a triple-whammy of near
term supply glut, keener competition, and declining oil prices.
Downgrade the stock to HOLD with lower target price of
S$3.80 (Prev S$ 4.00), given the limited upside and potential
headwinds ahead.

We would turn positive on the counter
again if order flow picks up strongly, margin recovers, repair
revenue rises and Brazil operations progress well.

I think ocbc can hold some more since they are buying back their own shares at just under and over $10.

I will check my horoscope before investing
Or consult my imaginary friend ABCDEF
It be good to know that oil stocks are not as volatile
As those of companies that dig or make equipment
Money makes the world go around
This applies to revolutionaries too

The Straits Times index gained 0.1% or 3.3pts to 3290.96 (day range: 3302.34 - 3286.14) on Thursday. The index is above its 20d MA (@ 3228) and above its 50d MA (@ 3274). 67% of the index constituents are above their 20D MA (vs 63% the previous session) and 43% of the shares are above their 50D MA (vs 43%).

From a technical point of view, the index is staying on the upside lacking downward momentum, while the daily RSI stands firmly above the neutrality level at 50% sugguesting extended bullishness. We remain positive regarding the index as the nearest target 3315 is in sight. Over that, the index could head to 3360.

As what Merle Haggard was stating,

Olam International (OLAM) is our selection of the day. From a chartist point of view, the stock is consolidating on the downside after testing the support at 2.00. The dropping 20-day moving average is under the 50-day one and acting as a resistance.

Meanwhile, the daily RSI remains below the neutrality level at 50%. Therefore, though the possibility of a technical rebound could not be ruled out, its extent should be limited. While 2.35 holds as pivot, a break below 2.00 could trigger a move towards 1.85.
