Really hard to predict e jam nowadays. Now checking traffic cam , no jam at all ! Usually sun also peanut jam type.

It was a real breeze on the way back because I stumbled onto a route which you may already know. Just sharing since I only learned about this connection.

Went to JB City Square and chose to park at the multi-storey car park beside the KTM Station. When exiting to go back to Singapore, I turned out into Jalan Jim Quee and then Jalan Tengku Azizah. Followed the signboards and it is a viaduct that goes right into the Johor CIQ, beating the queues that built up from Jalan Lingkaran Dalam.

When we reached Singapore, it was double bonus as the ICA officers diverted some cars stuck in the middle of the causeway to the checkpoints used by delivery trucks. Out of Singapore CIQ in 5 minutes on a very busy day.

Wished this was the case every time!

I think G&G landed would face about the same problem as the condo.
Many high end G&G landed bought by foreigners also.
If most default the security fees, eventually no security also.

Bro Asiabo, IMHO, security should not just be the main concern whether for a G&G property or condo .

There would be garbage/waste disposal, common facilities management and also lift maintenance to think about.

Yes I heard condos in KL have swimming pool with no water, lift not working, etc.
Wonder why is it so? Can't the management do something to those people who don't pay?
They should have the legal powers if the condo is strata-title.

No wonder the guards always walk around the car park, the guards here quite on the balls cos the big boss of the place stay next door to me!

My friend sister rent a unit in Ulu Tiram for only rm600, think of the price one can tell how safe is that place.
Place not to buy is .... Taman Palangi , Johor jaya, anywhere near CIQ...

another one, Permas Jaya, notorious...

I went in through first link at around 4.30pm today.

Initially, it was jam-packed on Singapore's side because there was a deluge of bikes and they converted additional lanes for them; leaving only 2 lanes for cars.

But once past Singapore CIQ, it was smooth flowing all the way along the Causeway into MY. No queues at all.

Yes, on Saturday morning, it took me 2 hr 10 min to reach Woodland checkpoint from BKE. The distance was less than 1km. Don't know why jam so long? Before heading to Johor checkpoint, again jam in queue for toilet. Wife caught in ladies toilet for another 15min. Luckily, Johor checkpoint jam just lasted 35min. Total 3hr. It is my worst jam for non-holiday season.

Suffice to say, more Singapore residents are travelling to JB to stretch their dollar. The numbers visiting has increased absolutely.

Bumped into some 'Ang Mos' in City Square who told me that they are from Singapore but came across by bus for a cheap meal.

Even Ang Mos are looking for bargains these days!

Hopefully this translates to more jobs for the locals so that they won't resort to street crimes. If not the inflation in JB might make things worse for those who have low income jobs or those without a job.

A more immediate impact could be a stronger Sing dollar causes JB developers to be more daring in raising prices for every new launch. Singaporeans with passive income in Sing dollar will find it more worthwhile to retire in JB. For the Malaysian PRs, they will be more willing to buy a house to stay in JB and travel across to Singapore to work.

Thanks, I guess its down to luck, agent told me the 2 penthouses have been reserved for Royalty, thus if true, security should be reliable plus the revival of the waterfront project, is it as from what I gathered as seen below in my illustration?

I think it is not bad but I would rather go for G&G landed properties in JB. Condo supplies can be ramped up easily like Singapore leading to oversupply, like in Singapore NE region now. I'm not sure how the condo management is going to chase after some overseas owners (I assume at this price most buyers are not locals) who default on their maintenance and security fees, thus potentially leading to maintenance and security issues.

These 'Ang Mos' are more "adventurous". I spoke to my neighbour that I need to make a trip to JB to get some local products, their immediate respond were " you're not scare of being shot !" To them or to my many close relatives, the only moment they will step into JB providing that the media announce that it is very safe and no crime ... but you all know what will be the standard of living by then...

Not really fair to totally tie poverty, unemployment to street crimes. Like that, our multi-million dollar scholars in Singapore would be very 'clean'.

But focusing on the strong Singapore dollar, I am seeing that the Singaporean Government is forcing the hands of the SMEs (which is largely absent in any news commentaries these days) to relocate as the strong dollar is making it tough for them to survive.

High costs and poor competitive advantage. Let's see, some may even fold.

Those r white collar crimes tt r less of my concern. The guy in e street needs a proper job to keep them occupied or feed their families. Higher costs of doing business in Singapore def pushes more companies to invest mfg in Malaysia, which we r witnessing now. It is attracting higher value add companies like those in oil n gas.

Wynn should be next. And Steve was not coy about wanting to be in SG though PH seems to have taken some of his attention.

Licenses for the casinos run for 30 years and the exclusivity is for 10 years. The clock started ticking in January 2007 when the two winners Sands and Genting were announced. When there's none, it is difficult to convert the nay-sayers. But once past the threshold, it gets easier. Strengthening the 'safe-guards', 'legislations' and 'social assistance schemes' are all it takes to persuade which is happening now.

There is no turning back.

LHL announced in 2005 that Singapore is going to develop IRs and allowing the entry of casinos; 5 years later, the RWS opened its doors.

It is 2012 now and Business Times reported that Wynn needs to wait until 2017 to start his operations.

Should we be hearing some announcements soon?

Thanks for info, never know there is another casino in the works  Sorry what is PH?

Took family to Crystal Pearl Restaurant in Bukit Indah for dinner tonite. I would not recommend it.
Firstly, I made the mistake of going to the toilet to wash my hands before having my Dinner. BIG MISTAKE...... I leave it to your imagination.....
Then came the food, the plate that the rice came on still had dried on remains that looked as if the plate was not washed!!!!! The Fish Head in the curry looked and tasted as if it was in the freezer for a very long time...... The kid's meal had an egg mayonnaise sandwich which my kids normally eat very heartily. This time around after a couple of bites, they refused eat any more!!! When I tasted it, the mayonnaise in the egg sandwich tasted quite different....... Finally, service....... I quess "I owe them a living" even though I thought I was paying for it......
It might have had a good rating sometime back BUT I guess standard has plummeted......

Yeah, i also noticed their toilet is not clean like before and have a few flies in the air con room.

I tend to see JB's social problems to be multi-faceted. Governing a state of this size should not be equated with SG.

Totally agree with your observation about investments in MY. If the big $ industries start to set foot, all the more better. But after speaking to some developers and plant owners there, I find that the speed of getting things done needs to improve.

For example, it takes a while to obtain a fibre optic line to be operational in an industrial estate even though it is in place.
