It's already quite silly: the notion of retiring in Singapore. What are you going to do? Casino? Karaoke? Golf? Mahjong? Taichi?

Utterly boring.

This is what my schedule would be :

  1. 6.00 am - 8.00 am : Morning exercise routine. Gym/bike/jog... whatever.
  2. 9.00 am - 10.00 am : Breakfast - I'd go to a different place every morning.. 5 star hotel, hawker food, food court etc.
  3. 10.00 am - 12 noon : Internet stuff... write scripts to increase efficiency, make money, irritate a few people, write a bit of crap etc
  4. 12 noon - 1.30 pm : Lunch with interesting,. intelligent people to brainstorm stuff.... politics... e-commerce ideas, discuss hobbies, exchange ideas.
  5. 1.30 pm - 5.00 pm : Hobby time. My favorite is photography. I always have a project going and I vary the theme. I dabble with landscape, portraiture, street photography, pets (one of my favorites).
  6. 5.00 pm to 6.30 pm : Catch up on the day's news. Read sammyboy... write a bit more crap.
  7. 6.30 pm to 10.30 pm : Dinner with business associates / family / friends /
  8. 11 pm : Bed time.

On weekends, I'd rotate between volunteer work, taking part in endurance events or hopping over to Malaysia for scuba diving (if it's the right time of the year) or mountain biking.

Once every two months, I'd travel for about 10 days.. eg photography trip to Bali or Queenstown NZ or to some special event that I'm interested in eg a film festival.

There's so much to do and so little time. Every hour should be spent wisely.

Two scenarios: those earning good salary with non-demanding jobs especially in the civil service will hope to continue to work till 65 and beyond. The excuse is 'very Sian you know if not working' but actually the reason is that they simply cannot let go the good salary. The worse case are those who are doing hard labour job without saving or financial support die die must work. The formal group is the most hypocritical people I have observed.

Yes, plenty of these super cushy jobs in the civil service. Working till 70 also no problem. No stress. No work. Chobolan. Just remain quiet and obedient. Oh yes, porlumpars needed to extend one's existence in the civil service. These chaps know for the amount of real work they do, they will probably get 10% of their current pay.

Lau uncles and aunties at kpts always say can die in S'pore but cannot fall ill and be hospitalised. Relaxation and retirement never crossed their minds. They need to clean tables, look after jambans and collect used items from bins. That's the reality.

My friend once had the relatives from China visiting here and were shocked to see lau uncles & aunties doing cleaning job in kpts and commented that they should be exercising and relax in parks like those in shanghai, Beijing and other big cities. One thing is true, those above 70 years old in china do not pay a cent in taking public transport.

With all this biking here, are you really talking of retirement or just going on sabbatical leave? Anyway since you have allocated time in the afternoon for Sammyboy nonsense, what is this Internet crap you plan for morning 10am to noon?
