No wonder more and more joining pinkdot every year...at the stage where teenagers are most confused about themselves sexually, these teachers who are supposed to be role models adds on to their confusion.

I wonder how did the boy know that the teacher is gay? Do they openly expressed their orientation?

Ever since my elder sister passed away I've been taking care of her son JJ. I took him in since he was 8 years old and I love him dearly like my own. Now he is a teenager. Being a mother of two young children is easier than a mother of an adolescent. The challenges are different, and this somewhat prepared me of what's coming for my two daughters later.

I was checking the house computer and saw several pictures of naked men. My two younger girls are too young to use computer. I confronted my JJ and he strongly denied it. After much probe, he finally relented and claimed those obscene pictures belong to him. We asked if he has any issues on sexual orientation and wish to talk about it. JJ said that he was going to tell me and hub that he thinks he's gay, but apparently the day came too soon. We asked many questions to peek into his new found interest and understand when and where it had developed. Over the past year, he became quiet and shut himself in the room often. Throughout the conversation, JJ kept saying that we 'straight people' will never understand that he's born that way. He kept insisting that he was born gay. I felt like a failure because I don't know where I had gone wrong or what did I do wrong. I have let my sister down. Should I let JJ continue being gay or should I get someone to talk to him like a counsellor?

The most disturbing part is that he claimed it is normal to be gay. Even his teacher is gay. We went to a school website and asked him to show us who is the gay teacher. Apparently the teacher is a HOD. He refused to detail how he got wind of this info. Me and hub got worried. HOD means possibly the teacher can be a principal in future.

My question is: Does MOE conduct background checks on their key appointment personnel before they take on these important roles? So MOE takes a tolerant stand on LGBT issues?

Society is becoming more open and people are less inhibited to express themselves. Whatever it is, gay behaviour is more and more accepted in industrialized society. I think it is unnatural, but if adults consent to it, it is their choice. There is no point is objecting to gays in society, this behaviour has been around since early man and modern society does not consider it deviant anymore.

Society is becoming more open and people are less inhibited to express themselves. Whatever it is, gay behaviour is more and more accepted in industrialized society. I think it is unnatural, but if adults consent to it, it is their choice. There is no point is objecting to gays in society, this behaviour has been around since early man and modern society does not consider it deviant anymore.

How are you, or anyone else going to prevent this? I learnt (or was exposed to) about sex in school when a classmate brought porno photos to class, and that was in primary school, not secondary. Nowadays, its on the internet. How to stop? There will be both good and bad things out there, and it is better they learn it at school than out on the streets where there will be no limits or boundaries.

If you are thinking about 20yrs ago like when the school bapok always gets teased to no end so maybe we should give them some measure of mutual respect, think again.

Gays are far more open nowadays and with the politicising of the gay issue, you will begin to see gay zealots/advocates spreading the message that homosexuality is a message of truth and the laws are but persecuting them no differently like early Christians.

Just like the beginnings of communism, where it seemed like a pretty good idea for that time and spread by academia and the intelligentsia, the politicising of homosexual rights is but a choice on a risque path that will soon lead to all kinds of social issues we can barely imagine.

We are drawn to the opposite sex because of sexual urges, but apparently a significant portion of our species are oversexed and are drawn not only to same sex but to non-human and even inanimate objects. I think in earlier Asian societies, there were even official vocations for gays and she-males which by today's view would be considered open. However, whether it is natural or whatever, we should treat any human and as human, because we are humans. Sexual orientation, I take it like religion, its a personal choice (as an adult) and I don't care what the other person is, as long as s/he does not impose her/his view on me.
