Whether Shell should or should not trust him is not the issue here, big mncs tend to promote good people very fast and it is not rare to find people in mid 30s holding senior positions. Between a strong performer in his mid 30s foreigner vs a average performer mid 50s local, all companies will choose the high flyer guy anytime. What I am trying to understand is - is this guy really a high flyer (ie talent) or is it another of those big fake job titles again. If former then he is a real FT and likely not competing with locals (there are not that many high level specialist in oil industry who are locals), if latter then yes this guy is depriving a local of a potential job & Shell is just another scumbag mnc exploiting loose immigration policies in sg.
