Fans of The X-Files, rejoice! Actor David Duchovny, who played FBI agent Fox Mulder in the series and later, in two films, revealed that the script for the third film is now in the works. The X-Files: I Want to Believe, the sequel to 1998 film The X-Files, did not perform as well as anticipated at the box office when it was released two years ago.

However, that did not deter the minds behind the sci-fi thrillers to send agent Mulder and agent Dana Scully (played by Gillian Anderson) on another round of adventure. Duchovy, who was interviewed by French magazine TVMag recently, said that the third film “is in the process of being written.”

“One awaits just the green light from Fox, a little disappointed from the relatively poor reception of the second film. “The error comes, in my opinion, that the authors strayed too far from the roots of the series. Moreover, the film was released in the summer. The third will be much closer to what the public expects, with government conspiracies, etc,” he said.
