Chinese and Malay. Chinese because China is rising, opportunities are in the East, and Chinese people labourers or otherwise should not aspire to be such bananas and traitorous backstabbers.

Malay is always a symbolic language as we are in the Malay Archipelago and we should give respect to the natives here. English as a Western design should be the third language to be taken seriously only by those who aspire to work overseas to
contribute to this country's economy.

the census shows most families speak mandarin. english can still remain as a foreign language, like it is now. the koreans japs all use basic broken english to do their businesses like singaporeans.

Which census are you refering to? when was the year? how was it conducted?

Malay has already always been national language of Singapore. National anthem Majulah Singapura is sung in Malay.

the written and national language will be chinese. all spoken chinese dialects can be made official and translators provided...most chinese dialects are quite similar anyway...and they are all written in 100% the same way

Keep trying bro. All the road signs in Singapore are in English. Switch them to Chink and there will be chaos on the streets, just like PRC. Who the fuck reads putonghua here? Take away the hanyu pinyin and they will be lost!!!!

Cheers!

Lol, obviously those speaking in this forum telling ppl mandarin are unofficial must be in their late 30ish and older. Learnt Malay as your main language in the past. Look around see gen x and y, who speaks hokkien? And why is everyone promoting hokkien, why not teochew, Hakka, canto, etc? Influenced too much by Jack Neo movie is it?

Ask your teen to if they understand hokkien? I think more than 80% of your children will be asking?Mum... What is Ah gong trying to say? If u are raised up in mandarin spoken family, I doubt most of you under are able to translate even up to 5% of what your fella Malay and Indian peers are conversing.

Admit you hate prc workers here but not deny the fact that mandarin is common language here. This thread topic should be popular in the 90s. But I don't know why some people are still living in past memories just like mata is still wearing shorts.
