oh really ? before Pearl Harbor, China's war with Japan had reached a stalemate, and China was holding out considerately alright. USA entered the war because Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, not that they had a noble cause to save the world. from 1941-1945 VJ day, USA gave 60% of the lend-lease aid to Great Britain, 20% to Soviet Union, and just a miserable 1.5% to China. USA ought to be thankful to China for its ww2 efforts. China bogged down 1.2 million Japanese troops throughout 1941-1945. if China had made peace with Japan after Pearl Harbor, the 1.2 million Japanese troops would be free to join their 0.6 million troops in Manchuria and attacked Soviet Union Siberia from the north, join the Pacific war or linkup with the German troops in Africa against the Americans and British. USA only had confirmation of the successful development of the atomic bomb in Jan 1945. therefore the outcome of the war might be much different if China didn't play its significant part in the war. lastly, USA cowardly and dishonorably betrayed their loyal ally China's interests at Yalta Conference and the result of that USA betrayal was the Communists' conquest of China in 1949 that changed the fate of China forever.
fdr was more sympathetic to the chicoms as cks was hoarding howitzers or other hardware that the u.s. gave him to fight the japs. there were 50 howitzers sitting idle in storage when cks could have used them to whack the japs. fdr sent high ranking reps to the chicoms including marshall but when truman took over after fdr's death, all that stopped as truman was unequivocally anti-commie. it was cks ineptness and kmt's ineffectiveness that caused commies (with aid from ussr) to win the war in china.
also russia liberated europe,not the americans.
if there were 50 howitzers, they were in General Stilwell's hands, not CKS. Stilwell was only interested in equipping his Chinese Burma expeditionary force, hoarded the rest of the military aid, and did not give any significant direct military aid to the rest of the Chinese forces until the 4th battle of Changsha 1944 when it was too late to save the city from Japanese hands.
China's fate for the 20th and 21th century was sealed by the secret Yalta agreement. USA gave approval without CKS's initial knowledge for the Soviet invasion of Japanese-occupied Manchuria. immediately after VJ day, the Soviet army gave the CCP unrestricted access into Manchuria. CCP general Lin Biao took 300K soldiers and workers to Manchuria and subsequently started the war against the KMT there. throughout the civil war, the CCP's entire resources supply lines were delivered from Soviet Vladivostok to Harbin to Dalian to Shandong to rest of China. so if USA didn't give away the strategic important Manchuria against the KMT's interests to the Soviets in the first place, none of this would have happened, the CCP would have insufficient to no military and other materials resources to fight against the KMT right from the start. the CCP depended heavily on Soviet materials aid throughout the war, and they had no other means to get them except through the Manchuria supply lines. it's all the damn Americans' fault that the civil war claimed the lives of 20 million Chinese soldiers and civilians in just 4 years.
No self respecting Chinese leader will give one inch of Chinese territory to any Barbarian from across the seas.

nope. stilwell saw and reported the hoarding of u.s. donated howitzers by cks to marshall. after the series of reports on cks' ineffectiveness and corruption, both fdr and marshall took a very dim view of cks. there were supplies sent to the kmt forces but stilwell observed near-starvation among kmt troops. morale was low, and there were purges and betrayals on capable generals by cks if he deemed they were liked by troops and posed a threat. even my taiwanese friends hated the generalissimo. he imprisoned one of his most capable generals under house arrest for decades until his death. the only person allowed to attend to him was his maid servant. he married the maid servant out of loneliness.
the u.s. liberated and colonized the philippines from spain during the american-spanish war. that included puerto rico in the caribbean and several other spanish colonies. after ww2, the philippines were peacefully allowed to be independent. puerto rico is still a u.s. protectorate but congress want her to be independent rather than make her a state but puerto ricans have the final say. if u.s. were to retain her territorial rights after ww2 as a result of victories and blood spilled, both pacific and atlantic oceans and all islands in them would have been part of the u.s., but they only claimed guam, samoa, saipan, the bikini atolls, and some insignificant shoals. if prc were to win the war for both oceans during ww2, they would not let them go. cannot use history of former dynasties in their glory days to claim territories. the middle east and northwest india might as well surrender all lands to greece and macedonia, and likewise eastern europe, russia, central asia and china might as well surrender all lands today to mongolia. it's a vacuous argument.
I never read of CKS hoarding the USA howitzers. Stiwell and Marshall were brainwashed by their pro-Communist aides and advisers and therefore developed a negative and distorted view of CKS and the KMT. they simply don't understand the real situation in China back then. therefore they committed a string of disastrous political and military mistakes during the USA involvement in China 1940s that eventually doomed China to Communism.
CKS famously imprisoned two Generals for decades - Zhang Xueliang and Sun Liren. Zhang deserved it because he listened to the Communists and imprisoned CKS during the Xian incident. it was unfortunate for Sun. the Americans sounded him out about staging a coup and replacing CKS in Taiwan. and then it is said one of Sun's trusted aides was arrested for Communist spying. therefore CKS lost trust in Sun and subsequently imprisoned him.
