As compared, MBS only offered 30% on hotel rooms charges above $359+++ per night.
If members take up this offer, the members will get $50 on Destination points to offset their shopping expenses in MBS.

Premier Dollars can only redeem meals in casual restaurants within the hotels & casino.

The Premier Advantage points earned is prettty useless otherwise is to upgrade card level into Gold/Platinum/Diamond.
Not much of a difference unless we are Paiza club members.

That is why many people are saying that if things stay as they are, RWS and MBS will eventually go under.

They are not atrractive to high rollers as they don't have a good junket system.

The local mass affluent market will not go regularly because of the $100 levy.

The casino holiday market is a relatively small and niche market. Even here, they are not competitive as compared to casinos like Genting.

The only market they can count on are the hard core gamblers who will cheong inside regardless of the odds. This market has a limited shelf life and will die off with time. This is because even the most stupid and hard core gambler will eventually figure out that he is getting a poor deal, loosing money and hence stop going.

Surrender 14 and 16 when dealer has a 10 will ensure losing less chips compared to hitting or standing in all situations combined.
Hitting on 12 when dealer has a 10 will lose less than the option of surrendering.
I still don't undertstand your reasoning and what your last 2 sentences mean.
But going to leave it, because I accept that I am not that familiar with blackjack, and also that you probably cannot explain any more clearly.

When you said "Hitting on 12 when dealer has a 10 will lose less than the option of surrendering", this will depend on both the dealer's second card and your third card. If you get a three, and the dealer gets a seven, you will lose. If you get a six and the dealer gets a seven, you will win. I assume that you are referring to the law if probabilities over a very very long period, since over a medium period, anything can happen, i.e. above examples.

For me personally, I will hit on the 12 and probably stand on the 14 and 16. I seldom surrender, which as you pointed out, may not be wise over a very long period.

If you want to do something as "stupid" as believe the statisticians and their simulations, you should

Hit 12,13,14 against 10
Surrender 15,16 against 10.

seriously how do u define wat is when and how to hit a card correctly ??
nobody knows wat is the next card to come out.
if u play 5 hands against the dealer, is there any chance all ur hards are 20 points? Yes of cos. Is there any chance all ur hands are 15 points? Yes of cos.

Dealer has 5.
1st base and 2nd base all with points ranging from 17 to 21.
U are at 3rd base with hard 12.
So tell me how and when shld i hit my card?

can we assume that there are more hi value cards than low value cards, so the next card ti come out will be low value, or vice versa? I dont think so.

Basic strategy tells us to stand.
But i'm feeling real lucky on tat day and i choose to hit, and i draw a 9.

Dealer subsequently draw 7 and 10 and busted, and everyone happy.
But they realised if i nvr draw on the 9, dealer will get 21.

People always say the 3rd base player ruin the play if he stand or hit wrongly. Seriously, that's not the case.

Every 6 months or so, Genting will organise a gala night during the low peak season. These gala nights offer very good value for money.

The upcoming gala night is 28/6 to 29/6.

http://www.rwgenting.com/en/casino/events/2010/2010_premium_pgm_vivanight.htm

By buying just RM 3088 worth of nn chips, you get

1) Deluxe room for 2 with breakfast (upgrade to Highland room for the 1st 100 customers)
2) 8 course dinner with show

If you have gone before, you will find the dinner is really quite good and easily worth more than $100. If you book early and manage to get a Highlands room, the value of the package will easily top $400.

Assuming you are not there to gamble seriously, all you need to do is use the nn chips to play and keep all the cash chips you win. When the nn chips run out, you cash in the cash chips.

Also, Genting tends to use these packages to try and identify potential high rollers. After you buy 1 such package, you can expect invitations to all sort of special events reserved for VIPs.

Thks aurvandil for sharing this promotion, maybe will join this gala since I foresee the crowd at Genting highlands will not that massive, with the on-going world cup.

One common thing i heard from fellow players at the table.

"After Ace, most likely come out picture."
"After 2 most likely come out 5"

Isn't that funny ?

I agree on these ... $100 day levy or even $2,000 annual levy really gambling a poor deal in RWS or MBS. This first year for both casinos will be profitable but slowly as innovation gone. RWS & MBS will making a lot promotion to attract local & regional gamblers.

They based their analogy on card counting. With the number of cards already delivered, they forecasted the so-called remaining cards available. But they forgotten that its a shuffling machine and 6 decks in the machine. When you hear people talking like this, its best not to sit on the same table as them.

Because when they win, they will think they are good. When they lose, they will blame you for taking the wrong cards and make them lose.

Having been in a casino for long periods of time, I think the $100 levy and $2000 levy is a deterrent move.

Initially before I enter the local casinos, I think that how can such levies deter people from entering the casinos if they really want to gamble.

But after entering it and looking at the crowd, especially the foreign worker crowd in RWS, that will be the kind of situation we will see when there is no levy collected for singaporeans or PR. There are a lot of these people who wants to go in and take a gamble. Gambling can make people spin into uncontrollable state when they are in the casinos especially when they are losing.

The $100 levy or $2000 levy will not stop people who are hardcore gamblers or people who can afford to spend this levy. In fact, you get to see many people standing outside the main entrances trying to get a glimpse of people moving in and out of the casinos. Those people will be the danger group if there is no levy and once they enter the casino, they will have a fluttering bet and from fluttering small bets, it becomes bigger bets. Having seen with my own eyes how people fall into addiction and losing even more than just money, the $100 will deter the common people. Those who really want to gamble, with or without $100 they will enter, if its $300, those who really want will still go in.

In Mr Adelson's interview, he said before the $100 levy ensured people stayed longer to bet in casinos, providing a margin for casinos to be feasible. There will be an even bigger social problem if there is no levy needed to go into local casinos.

To me, I never like playing with NN chips. In order to get the rolling, I got to change a minimum. In gambling it works this way, when you win, you will lose, when you lose you must stop. When you lose and don't stop, you will lose all. The junket are like vultures wanting you to change more nn chips get rolling. So I exchanged $8K, I was up by $4K of cash chips in an hour, but still stuck with $6K of nn chips. If I had 8K of cash chips, I would have left the casino with $10K of cash chips exchangeable for cash anytime. But in this catch21 situation, I can only change $4K back to cash and have to bet the remaining $6K nn chips, regardless of whether I like it or not, or I could bring home the $6K nn chips and come back another day. So since I wasn't losing, I continue. The moment start to change, that time I was playing Baccarat. slowly the decisions don't go the way, you see the cash chips stay stagnant and the nn chips going lower and lower. In the end from a profit of $2k, I left only with $6.8K of cash chips and 0 nn chips. That was a relief, I lost only $1.2K

I don't have a habit of staying long in casinos and see them wipe out the winnings. NN chips will suit people who wants to play long battles with the casinos. You take my chip, I take your chip. But if you are playing a fast battle in the casino, take winnings and leave then NN chips will not be suitable. Casinos don't give perks to players for nothing, they just want you to gamble and gamble and more gamble. The longer you do, the higher your chances of losing and with nn chips, they sell you chips which cannot be exchanged back into money. They already won the 1st battle, exchanging worthless chips for your money. You either fight to win or you lose them all. The only way to win these worthless chips is to win them back.

It is very common to see in a casino at those blackjack tables where it gets very rowdy and everybody is cheering after winning the dealer and he has busted his cards. Within 30 minutes, that whole table will be quiet and empty. Don't ask me why. It always happens

I don't understand this last part. Why can't you bring the chips home and go back another day? The nn chips won't grow moudly what.

Next time round, you simply use your points to get a free room, buy an additional $2k nn (assuming you want starting capital $8k) and then start gambing again.

That's a very good question.

Why do casinos like people to exchange money into chips.
Because psychologically, people tend to bet more placing chips than placing cash. In a casino, when you start placing chips of couple of hundreds, its something one mostly would not do if he is placing cold hard cash.

Imagine the effect of losing 10pcs of $500 chips and placing $5000 cash on the gaming table and lose them. In a casino, chips are worthless till they are exchanged with the cage cashier. You can have thousands on the gaming table but they are worthless till you change them back to cash.

We place chips in pockets, walk around in casinos, because they are small, seems easy to carry but also easy to misplace. you drop 1, that's it. Most people if they have stacks of chips, they misplace 1 they don't even notice it. There was once this 10K genting plaque token I keep looking around in my room where I misplaced it. Till no choice I returned back sg. found it in the sliphole of another bag. That was lucky.

If I exchange $8K of cash chips, if I decided to go home, I can cash out anytime. But if its nn chips, and I want to go back, The only way is to lose back to casino.

Another reason is nn chips must go back to casino via losing. Genting is very smart, give free room, invite us to play, give rebate for limousine travel, give RM3K nn chips only for Roulette play. I don't know how to play Roulette. Give me 3K, I think at most I can get back 500RM at most. They give you nn chips for specific games and not for others.

Of course end of the day there would be people who like nn chips because of the extra 1%+ which comes with it. But for me I would always change back to cash whenever I leave the casino. Cash is king, chips are nothing:o

I suppose it has to do with your mindset and why you go to the casino.

For some people, they feel a need and a compulsion to go because they like to play the games there.

For others ( I am one of these), they don't feel the need to go unless there is some sort of advantage to be had. For me it is is usually

1) They are running some sort of promotion and there is a good deal to be had on rooms, food, drinks and/or nn chips. I have some free time, am stressed from my business and want to have a short holiday.

2)My kakis call me and I have a social obligation to show up.

3) There is a tournament running which from previous trips, I know has not many people playing. I therefore have a reasonably good chance to win some money using just GP.

When I see a stack of nn chips, I do not have any craving or urging to go to the casino. Instead I usually think whether I have enough and need to stock up during the next promotion in case I need to go and there is no good promotion running.

The reason for my mindset is that I am an advantage player who uses statistics heavily. If you know the odds of winning and losing for almost every game at the casino, the game no longer becomes fun. The fun comes from thinking and trying out ways to beat the system without getting caught and banned. Also you would put your serious gambling money in horses and football where a good mastery of statistics can help you win big regularly.

Also, it should be noted that not everyone is lucky enough to have $10k or $20k to use as capital to go to the casino and earn thousands of GP. If you have to pay for it, staying in a Highlands room and having some nice meals can easily set you back $600 to $700 for a weekend. If you "uncle" a little bit and makan Uncle Lim, it is as good as winning $600 to $700 from the casino.

i think u can only consider u won when u left the casino holding cold hard cash. hanging on NN chips is just not the same.

for me, i will only consider i win when i left genting mountain with cold hard cash and get back on the NS highway. as long as i am still holidaying in genting, i will not consider it a win yet.

Sidetrack a bit.

I seen many female gamblers in MBS Ruby Room playing min $200 Baccarat tables
downgraded to basement level playing min $50 tables

One female SG gambler is quite arrogant that I had recognised.

Same in RWS some aunties (look like retired mama-sans) in smoking area downgraded
from playing min $200 Baccarat tables to min $50.

I observed their bet only a mere $50 bet on Non-Commission Baccarat table (Face-Up)
as compared to previously she bet $300~$500 bet on hand

I went to RWS Membership counters and ask the male officer whether they can give me a Silver Card
based I playing in RWS for quite some time and I showed him the MBS Gold Card.

The officer said cannot.. must start from classic first

So I told him forget it then .........

If you are going to buy a package from Genting, you can tell them over the phone you have platinium card. They will give you the Silver card which according to bro silverwolf, you can then happily flash at RWS to get your RWS silver card.

I suppose I would use the word "sucker" when I see a well off Singaporean using one of the those green Genting cards.
