“DALI”, Francis Scott Key Bridge Incident​

Owners and managers of the Singapore-flagged container ship “DALI” (IMO 9697428) report that the vessel collided with one of the pillars of the Francis Scott Key Bridge, Baltimore whilst under pilotage with two pilots onboard, at approximately 01 30 local time on 26th March.

All crew members, including the two pilots have been accounted for and there are no reports of any injuries. There has also been no pollution.

Whilst the exact cause of the incident is yet to be determined, the ‘DALI’ has now mobilised its Qualified Individual Incident response service. The US Coast Guard and local officials have been notified, and the owners and managers are fully cooperating with Federal and State government agencies under an approved plan

Looking at the clear video of the collapse of the bridge, it was horrifying. Let us all live in hope that there may be survivors.

At this stage, it is IMPORTANT to determine the facts, as sooner or later, the CRAZIES will claim is an act from the divine, especially Persia Iran & terrorists whom are all out to seize ANY opportunity to fool the naive.

The ones whom chartered the ship was MAERSK, but ultimately, it is the GREEK owners of that ship whom will have to bear responsibilities for that ship - hiring of crew, maintenance of ship, etc.

No mechanical device will last forever, not even an Audemars Piguet watch, more so ships that need maintenance regularly.

Based upon the videos, that ship had MECHANICAL issues before it ploughed into the bridge's pillars, & the crew did everything, against natural tide & currents, even attempts at reversing the ship thus the black smoke seen - severe strains upon the machineries.

Thus it was a MECHANICAL fault & not something that the crazies would claim, & that fault lays in NEGLIENCE by the engineers onboard & the owners for FAILING to keep that ship well maintained.

The Francis Scott Key Bridge was ‘not designed’ to survive a head-on collision with a large vessel, an expert has told The Independent.

“The video of the collapse will be incredibly useful to the teams involved in assessing the causes of the failure and how it progressed, as this would otherwise have to be done by careful analysis of the destroyed structure and comparison with modelling,” Dr Andrew Barr, an expert in civil and structural engineering at the University of Sheffield said.

“The video doesn’t show any obvious structural deficiencies with the bridge, but it will not have been designed to survive a head-on collision with such a large vessel.

Bridges in shipping lanes are sometimes designed with strong, stout piers, or additional protective structures around the piers to prevent ships from coming into contact with the bridge structure. It doesn’t appear that the Key Bridge had either of these features, although it is also very likely that the size and design of the vessels passing under the bridge has changed considerably since it was completed in 1977,” he added.

It is far more critical to SAVE lives & the impact on this bridge upon trade, jobs & lives, that takes PRECEDENCE & PRIORITY over legal issues that will take a far more time to resolve with insurance companies & the GREEK OWNERS of that ship which is NOT owned by Singapore. MPA will & had shown it is willing to assist the Maryland & Baltimore port authorities with transparency.

It is already morning in Baltimore, & the ship as well as Human traffic is building up. LIFE must go on, no matter how bad circumstances are. A winner is not someone whom can take repeated punches, but one who CAN STAND UP no matter how many punches he still receives.

And thus, the Maryland & Baltimore authorities MUST stand up, as quickly as possible & with sane safety measures, to alleviate the shipping, passenger & vehicular traffic situation as well as investigations on the cause & structural inspections/reconstruction works. Trade, jobs & lives are dependent on such.

It's time to rebuild American. They need massive rebuilding for their infrastructure.

This will boost the economy of the World. The bridge is just a relic , need to be taken down anyway. For now it has been taken down by the ship passing through it officially.

The insignificant nobody me would presume that it would far better to send in our best & innovative EDB officers & port civil engineers to assist them, in procuring boat ferries for passengers & vehicles to cross the river, our engineers to source out, survey safe embarkation & disembarkation mini ports for such, as well as Temporary land bridges with safe ports beyond the broken bridge for cargo ships to offload & load cargoes, to alleviate the critical trade, jobs & lives situation there.

However, USA is a land of many more talents, but if needed, we Singaporeans are ready to assist, as they had assisted us for decades.....
