Previous health ministers deserve to be BBQed.

All health ministers should be forced to use the medical facilities to experience it first hand. and not go to their private specialists and doctors without the need for appointment and seen right away.

By the same logic you should try running the country first before sprouting your nonsensical ideas regarding how the PAP should do their job.

Cow is not responsible anymore so no issue
Furthermore today is 30 June so photo date July 2014 not valid leh

All these ministers last time score points telling the world how they save construction costs by delaying hospital building; then they scoot off to new portfolio and no need to take responsibility for lack of hospital beds now!

The consequence of the situation is that after paying hefty taxes, I still have to purchase health insurance at the cost of NZD380 per month (it goes up annually and will be more than $400 next year) or $4560 per year in order to be assured of decent care should something catastrophic happen.

At $4560 per year, that's very expensive. Assuming that you are between 61-65 years old, you would only be paying $2502 per year for both Prushield and Prushield Extra. Assuming that you bought these 2 "A Premier" policies when young with no exclusions, you could bunk in at Raffles, Gleneagles and Mount Elizabeth any day and any time without having to pay a single cent.

I've said this before and I'll keep saying it over and over again... that Singaporeans should count their blessings. You don't know how lucky you are. Reality will sink in very quickly if you guys do something idiotic like voting the PAP out of office. It will be too late to regret when the country starts falling apart under some looney who takes over.

I'll still vote for WP. We seriously need some other voices in Parliament other than PAP. I don't mind a multi-party parliament with PAP and WP changing roles every 5 to 10 years.

Sinking land medical problem already started long time ago due to lack of graduates in medicine. Think sinking land if want to provide enough beds surely no problem, problem is where to find so many doctors and missy?? Sinking land can even buy aircraft carrier, but got enough people to operate or not?

The problem with medical insurance here is that you cannot lock in the premiums. They increase with age so the older you get, the more you pay every month.

It has been the subject of vigorous debate and the elderly are very unhappy about the whole situation.

This is happening because NZ does not have a government which is as good and as caring as the PAP.

Singaporeans should count themselves very lucky to have such an excellent government. Other countries have to put up with leadership which is considerably less capable and dedicated.

I think must compare the coverage before can tell whether expensive. Perhaps his $4560 policy cover outpatient Visits? Our shield plans usually don't cover outpatient unless it is within one month of the operation.

Prushield and Prushield Extra does cover outpatient visits both 6 months before (pre-consultations & tests) and 6 months after (post-consultations) the period of confinement in hospital. I think Prudential has the most generous of all Medishield plans in this respect.

6 months really not bad, last time I claimed for within one month only. The best is can cover outpatient specialist charges even without hospital stay. Like when health check up shows abnormal, the patient can quickly go check up instead of worry for false alarm and cannot claim for the consultation and tests, thus delaying the checking.

Everytime you praise the PAP, I gagged. If I am not careful, I could gagged to death. Someday, it will happen.

Back to the issue ...a single payer system is the most cost efficient way to provide health care to the population and save the people a lot of dough.

"tilam" put on the floor, BED also right??....soon, the hospital will want you, rent their bed....it will be (1) Basic bed, (2) Upgraded, subsidised bed & (3) Integrated bed, with TV controls, music controls, soft light control, first priority personal buzzer, when pressed will glow RED, you will be attended first..

What do you want? bed 1, bed2 or bed3....medishield life will not cover bed (1) & (2), Bed type 2, you co-pay, have to fork out some cash, Type (3) beds....those must be paid with currency notes, credit cards, Bank cards & Bank transfers...discount will be given to those, who can bring their own bed...

ahh!...wheelchairs too will be rented out too...same as the categories (1), (2) & (3)...don't worry, no SINgaoreans will be left BEHIND & will be affordable!

p.s. Curtains & dividers are extras....C class will have no dividers or curtains....cardboard dividers will be provided... ha ha ha ha
