Correct, should actually strengthen status quo of card-based transaction and delink to App instead. Everything also link to app and worse to bank cards are the reason why so many people tio scammed.
Sooner or later scammers are going to exploit some vulnerabilities in SimplyGo app to bleed your bank account dry esp. for those who link to their bank cards, LOL, then the PCB PAP-Gov will start to blame users error again, then claim credit with new measures , all to prepare for next GE, NBCB.

for “rapid” transit near-instant info feedback requirements will create compounding issues as it needs to move millions of passengers per minute. passengers need to know their balances anyway to top up accounts and fares per trip to ensure they are not overcharged. since elderly sinkies are not used to autopay from bank account to transit account, they need to constantly and instantaneously check (part of ocd and fear of scams). if info feedback is not within 6.9 ms the entire gate system in transit will have long waiting queues and massive commotion and chaos in commute.Takes a few seconds because nothing is stored natively, you have to retrieve everything from a remote database.
