A 46-year-old man fell to his death from a Novena Suites condominium block on Saturday (22 October) night, while a 44-year-old woman believed to be the man’s wife was found dead in a residential unit within the same block.

The Singapore Police Force and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were alerted to an incident at 200 Moulmein Road – the condominium’s address – at about 7pm.

SCDF responders found the man, identified in local media reports as Wang Chan Foo, sitting on a balcony ledge when they arrived. He fell while SCDF officers were setting up a safety life air pack.

The woman, identified as Ng Soo San, was found in the apartment after SCDF officers entered the unit. She is said to have been found with multiple stab wounds to her upper body.

Reports said that the couple, who have a seven-year-old son and 13-year-old daughter, were undergoing divorce proceedings at the time of their death.

Police are investigating the unnatural deaths and no arrests were made.

SINGAPORE - A 46-year-old man was found motionless at the foot of a block in Novena Suites on Moulmein Road around 6.55pm on Saturday (Oct 22).

In a residential unit of the same block, a 44-year-old woman, believed to be his wife who had been separated from him for two years, was found motionless in a bedroom on the 13th floor.

The woman was identified as Ms Ng Soo San, and the man, Mr Wang Chan Foo. It is believed that Ms Ng's body was discovered a few hours after Mr Wang was found at the foot of the residential block. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said Mr Wang had been standing on a balcony's parapet when it responded to the incident. Several calls for assistance had been made before 7pm.

He fell when SCDF was deploying an inflatable life pack. Officers subsequently entered the unit at the request of the police and found Ms Ng lying in the house.

The Straits Times understands that she had sustained a few stab wounds in her torso and that there was blood found at the scene.

Police said it is investigating the case as unnatural death. No one was arrested.

It is understood that the couple had two children, aged seven and 13, who were in the area. The Samaritans of Singapore group was contacted.

Mr Wang is believed to be a resident of the Novena apartment, although their matrimonial home was said to have been in Toa Payoh.

Two people were found dead at a condominium on Moulmein Road on Saturday night (October 22).

Police were alerted to an incident at Novena Heights at around 7pm.

Officers found a 46-year-old man motionless at the foot of the block.

They then discovered a 44-year-old woman — also motionless — in the bedroom of residential unit on the 13th floor of the same block.

The Straits Times reported that the woman had sustained multiple stab wounds to the torso.

Both the man and the woman were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

It is believed that the couple — Mr Wang Chan Foo and Ms Ng Soo San — were married, though they had been separated for two years. They had two children.

The bodies were removed at around 1.30am on Sunday morning.

Police are investigating the unnatural deaths.

No arrests were made.

SINGAPORE — A double death occurred last night at a condominium in Novena: A man fell to his death at the foot of an apartment block at Novena Suites at about 7pm, some four hours before a woman believed to be his wife was discovered with fatal stab wounds to her torso in a bedroom of a 13th floor unit at the same block.

The man and woman have been identified by the police as Wang Chan Foo, 46, and Ng Soo San, 44, respectively.

The police have classified the cases as unnatural deaths and are investigating. TODAY understands that Wang and Ng had been living apart for two years and were undergoing divorce proceedings. Wang had rented a home at Novena Suites along Moulmein Road while Ng was staying in their matrimonial home in Toa Payoh.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was first alerted to an incident at 6.55pm. When the SCDF arrived, Wang was sitting on the ledge at the balcony. While the SCDF was in the midst of setting up a safety life air pack, Wang fell to his death. It is understood that the police tried contacting Ng to no avail.

The authorities subsequently forced entry into the Wang's condominium unit and found Ng, who was lying motionless in the bedroom. Neighbours interviewed by the police said they did not notice any unusual noise coming out of the unit prior to the deaths.

The couple left behind a daughter, 13, and a son, 7, who were not present when the deaths occurred, TODAY understands.

SINGAPORE: Police are investigating two unnatural deaths - believed to be that of a husband and wife - at a condominium in Novena.

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) said it was alerted to the case at 200 Moulmein Road - the address of Novena Suites, a condominium near Velocity - at around 7pm on Saturday (Oct 22).

The 46-year-old man, identified as Wang Chan Foo, was found motionless at the foot of the condominium and was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene. The 44-year-old woman, identified as Ng Soo San, was found dead in a unit in the same block.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force said the man fell to his death from the balcony while responders were setting up a safety life air pack. Subsequently, the authorities forced entry into the 13th floor condominium unit.

Channel NewsAsia understands that Ms Ng was found in one of the bedrooms with multiple stab wounds on her upper body.

The couple is believed to have been in the process of separation and has two children, a 13-year-old daughter and a seven-year-old son who were attending tuition nearby when the incident occurred. The condominium unit was rented by Mr Wang, while Ms Ng is said to have been living at the couple's matrimonial home in Toa Payoh.

Police said no suspects were arrested in this case.

agree. all highrise residential buildings including hdb, hotels, condos should be surrounded by a safety net at least 2 storeys off the ground. suicides are a nuisance to the sinkie public. the ensuing cordoning off and cleanup involve cost, time and productivity of sinkies as sinkie lives pause indefinitely to oggle and gossip at spectacle. like barriers at mrt stations, sinkies will kpkb to the gov about not having adequate protection and prevention of selfish suiciders doing their dastardly act and inconveniencing others. the gov will have no choice but to react to sinkies' incessant kpkb and install permanent safety nets all around the island. also, nets have to be strong enough to arrest falling concrete and debris at housing estates experiencing wear and tear.

The Chinese is a pathetic people. Although more affluent than the other ethnic groups in Singapore, they are probably the most unhappiest and most unsatisfied. Because they measure life success and happiness in materialistic money terms, they slogged their lives away chasing money and ended up with all kinds of stress and pressure. Even when they get very rich, they still could not find happiness because their inherent greed always remains unsatiable and often ended up in quarrels with each other even to the extent of fighting within the family, sueing each other usually over inheritance, business and money. Many ended up paranoid and developed suspicions of others. They stayed in high class private property, condominiums and landed properties with high gates and would shoo anyone approaching their houses, even govt servants doing national Census or checking for mosquitoes.

This phenomenon is not limited to Singapore. A few years back in Malaysia , many public servants including ethnic chinese complain that they were either chased off, shoo away or met with sarcastic remarks when they tried to do a nation wide Malaysian govt census on ethnic chinese households.In contrast to the Malays and Indians who are more responsive and friendly, some chinese families, esp the rich families even let out their dogs to frighten off and chase away the census workers. When criticised, they vent their anger and complain at the government, the other races and their PM. It is as usual everyone else fault except the chinese themselves.

Their marriage was on the rocks.

While they and their two children would still go out for family outings, the couple had been living separately for four years.

Tragedy struck on Saturday night when Mr Wang Chan Foo, also known as Ongko Widjojo, 46, fell to his death from his balcony parapet at the Novena Suites condominium on Moulmein Road.

His wife, Madam Ng Soo San, 44, was later found dead by the police in his 13th-storey condominium unit.

She is believed to have suffered multiple stab wounds to her torso.

The episode unfolded while their daughter, 13, and seven-year-old son were at a nearby tuition centre, reported Chinese newspaper Lianhe Wanbao.

Ms Ng's brother, Mr Ng Jun Jie, 37, a tow-truck driver, told Shin Min Daily News that the two children had gone over to the condominium premises after their class and found out what happened to their father.

The girl, sobbing, then called her aunt - Mr Ng's older sister - for help.

"At that point, my niece said she was looking for her mother and could not find her," Mr Ng told Lianhe Wanbao.

Police said in a statement yesterday that they were alerted to the incident just before 7pm on Saturday.

It was only hours later that police found Madam Ng's body inside her husband's condominium unit, reported The Straits Times Online.

Both Mr Wang and Madam Ng were pronounced dead at the scene, said the police.

A search on the Registry of Marriages website showed that the couple got married in 2003.

They owned a HDB flat at Toa Payoh Lorong 2, and rented a unit at the Novena Suites condominium.

But their relationship soured about four years ago, Mr Ng told Wanbao.

"My sister claimed her husband had hit her and so moved back to their Toa Payoh HDB flat with their children," he said.

Mr Wang, who came from a wealthy family in Indonesia, stayed at the rented condominium unit.

Mr Ng moved in with his sister and her children two years ago.

Despite living separately, Mr Wang and Madam Ng would still take their children along for family outings, he said.

They had even planned for a trip to China next month, Mr Ng told Shin Min.

He said he last saw his sister on Saturday morning as she was about to take her son for his swimming class.

The next time he heard news of her was from his older sister, who had received a call from their niece.

Mr Ng told reporters that everything happened so suddenly and that it left him hurt and shocked, adding he did not know why his sister had gone to the condominium.

The couple's children are currently being cared for by him and his older sister, he said.

No one answered the door when The New Paper visited the couple's Toa Payoh HDB flat yesterday evening.

Police are investigating the unnatural deaths.
