He stated $250k to $300K per year for GPs which is the norm. There was an MOM study some years ago where salaries of the health industry was done. At the age of 35, that was the figure stated. You are also right that Banks extend generous loans to the doctors. Those who began practising from the 70s to now benefited tremendously from capital appreciation. I remember Dr Nalla Tan's and her cohort made a killing in the property market not because they were speculating but they at their time were in the top salary band except for Businessmen. When she and her husband passed away, the sons sold it for couple of millions to their neighbour Peter Seah.

That sort of buying is not possible now but they still will well off compared to the 90% of society. And you are also right about the lucrative cosmetic practice which I understand has much more profit.

Stop your bloody whining. I don't care how little or how much a Dr makes, but every doctor I know have investment specialist coming out of their ying yang. Very easy for them to qualify for bank loans and many invest in properties and stocks. Some buy the building they have their office in, rent simi? They make tons of money from all these non medical income, as well as they do botox and other shits. Some of them, the income from cosmetic practice is as much as from their core medical practice. My family doctor has an investment property in London, as well as several ones here. before you come here and fake out people about how hard Dr. work, and how little they earn, why don't you tell them the whole picture. If you are not one of those doctors that are engaging in these other investment opportunities, maybe you should start?

well the father should have foreseen this coming years ago and started saving and investing for her uni education.they should have had ten years at least to prepare.

I think the father should have the foresight to become a president scholar. If he was a president scholar, he would be making millions now and $500K is nothing.

President scholars aren't really making good doctors. They are actually protector of Singapore Meritocracy systems. Whatever aliment the system shows, they will be there to make the symptom go away.

One is Politics and one is saving people. You got it all mix up.

Yes, and you would be able to pay it back once you start earning. Most pple don't even bother paying back in 1 lump sum as the interest is just that low.
As for comparing with international students, I think they should be "cheaper". Basically, under the scheme you pay like a $500 student body fee a year with the rest under the loan. There are talks of privatising it like the international student.

No idea, I don't look at these info all the time.

That's how a good govt should nurture locals by giving interest free or low interest rate study loan. Better still make it free like Austria as what the Austrian tourists told me.

Malaysia has recognised Indian medical degrees even from crap colleges from day 1 because of MIC connections. So recognising Russians qualification would not be far from the norm. Even their own medical degrees are substandard. Affluent Malaysians prefer UK, Australian and Singapore medical degrees. In fact their best Bumi candidates get their medical degrees from the UK and Australia paid by the state. Some Singapore trained Malaysian doctors have gone back to Malaysia to practice after serving their bond here when the medical centres began developing.

Yes I saw before a MALAYSIAN INDIAN GP doctor in JB has qualifications from Bangladesh too. Good or bad depends on how you see it. It means that they have many nice, cheap and easy ways to become doctors in Malaysia, not like in Spore where you have to migrate or got rich parents, or be social escort as what one forummer said, to become doctor

No leh I saw before in the Spore medical council list got MALAYSIAN doctors with University of MALAYA or some Malaysia university qualifications working as doctors in Spore. So their medical degrees are recognised in Spore.
