2020年2月19日晚，一份遗体捐献书，交到了华中科技大学同济医学院法医学系教授刘良团队。捐献书写道：父亲李绍源新冠肺炎加重不幸去世。
患病期间明确表示，死后将遗体捐献出来，为早日战胜新冠疫情发挥一点作用。

84岁的吴宗元老人，至今不愿接受李绍源去世的事实，时常对着旧物出神。
1951年，这两位15岁的少年一同考入中国人民解放军南京工兵学校，开启了长达70年的友谊。
“在无怨无悔的奉献中获得了人生的幸福和欣慰”，这是李绍源在入校60周年纪念册上的感言。作为中国人民解放军工程兵建筑部队的一员，李绍源的大半生都在艰苦卓绝的环境中度过。
参加两弹一星的工程建设很艰苦的。艰苦到什么程度？吃饭的时候两个牙齿不挨拢的，挨拢会沙沙响，都是砂子。
90年代初期，李绍源转业，在武汉市残疾人服务中心任理事长。那时中国残疾人事业尚处于起步阶段，他克服重重困难，建起了专门服务残疾人的康复中心。
武汉市残疾人社会服务中心副主任 江昕：
当年李绍源理事长在武汉市残联工作的时候，我们新建的一个为残疾人服务的设施，武汉济世之家，当时可以居住200个肢体残疾人，后来包括智力残疾人的培训班也在这里面开设。
2020年2月1日，李绍源确诊新冠肺炎。住院期间，他多次提及把遗体捐给国家用于病理解剖。

因为他一直都是军人，然后一直都念部队包括国家对他的好。
李绍源好友 吴宗元：
他的一生总是在献爱心，最后把自己的遗体也献出去了。
武汉大学人民医院重症医学科副主任医师 余追：
我觉得应该对整个人类是一种大爱精神，他才会去捐献遗体的。纵观这个医学史，没有尸检，没有尸体解剖，你很难把一个疾病的发病机制把它搞清楚。只有把这个疾病的病理搞清楚了，你才能够有力放手的治疗。
至今，全国已完成十余例新冠肺炎患者遗体解剖，病理研究团队观察到器官继发性损害、肺部多粘液等病变特征，为后续的临床治疗提供了重要指导。

2月16日凌晨，全国第一例新冠肺炎逝世患者遗体解剖工作完成，成功拿到新冠肺炎病理。
专家表示，由解剖获得的新冠肺炎病理，对于探索新冠肺炎患者临床的病理改变、疾病机制等有重大帮助，并能从根本上探究新冠肺炎的致病性、致死性，给未来临床治疗危重症患者提供依据。
如今距第一例新冠肺炎逝者遗体解剖12天后，尸解报告公布，报告明确称，新冠肺炎病变仍聚焦肺部，其他脏器损伤的证据不足。研究结果发表在《法医学杂志》，题为《新型冠状病毒肺炎死亡尸体系统解剖大体观察报告》(下称《报告》)。
《报告》结果提示：新冠肺炎主要引起深部气道和肺泡损伤为特征的炎性反应，肺部纤维化及实变没有SARS导致的病变严重，而渗出性反应较SARS明显，对于心肌及心外膜、肾脏、脾脏、消化道器官、脑部是否存在与病毒感染相关的损害表现有待进一步研究。
具体来看，从尸体检验大体观判断，本例死者肺部损伤明显，炎性病变(灰白色病灶)以左肺为重，肺肉眼观呈斑片状，可见灰白色病灶及暗红色出血，触之质韧，失去肺固有的海绵感。切面可见大量黏稠的分泌物从肺泡内溢出，并可见纤维条索。对照复阅患者入院第20天CT片，见双肺多发斑片状磨玻璃影，可见空气支气管征，以左侧为重，双下肺可见纤维条索影。
由此，《报告》认为，考虑影像学所见磨玻璃状影与肉眼所见肺泡灰白色病灶对应，提示新冠肺炎主要引起深部气道和肺泡损伤为特征的炎性反应。
此前由新冠肺炎死者尸体穿刺取样获得的组织局部病理学改变提示，新冠肺炎病理特征与SARS和MERS冠状病毒引起的病理特征非常类似，但从此例系统解剖大体观察，肺部纤维化及实变没有SARS导致的病变严重，而渗出性反应较SARS明显，考虑可能与此例患者从确诊到死亡仅15天，病程较短有关，有待更多系统尸体检验资料及组织病理学验证。

The "Report" results suggest that the new coronary pneumonia mainly causes inflammatory reactions characterized by deep airway and alveolar damage. Pulmonary fibrosis and consolidation are not as severe as those caused by SARS, and the exudative reaction is more obvious than SARS. Whether the damage of the adventitia, kidney, spleen, digestive tract organs, and brain is related to viral infection remains to be further studied.
Specifically, judging from the general examination of the necropsy, the lung injury of the deceased in this case was obvious. The inflammatory lesions (gray-white lesions) focused on the left lung. The lungs were patchy on the naked eye, with gray-white lesions and dark red bleeding. Quality and toughness, losing the inherent sponge sense of the lungs. On the cut surface, a large amount of viscous secretions overflowed from the alveoli, and fibrous strands were visible. The control review of the CT film on the 20th day of admission of the patient showed multiple patchy ground glass shadows in both lungs, showing air bronchial signs, with the left side as the weight, and fibrous cord shadows in the lower lungs.
Therefore, the "Report" believes that considering the ground-glass shadow seen by radiology corresponds to the alveolar gray-white lesions seen by the naked eye, it suggests that new coronary pneumonia mainly causes inflammatory reactions characterized by deep airway and alveolar damage.
Previous tissue local pathological changes obtained from the puncture sampling of the deceased person of New Coronary Pneumonia suggest that the pathological features of New Coronary Pneumonia are very similar to those caused by SARS and MERS coronavirus, but from the systematic anatomical observation of this case, there is no pulmonary fibrosis and consolidation The lesions caused by SARS are serious, and the exudative reaction is more obvious than SARS. The consideration may be related to the short duration of the patient's diagnosis from diagnosis to 15 days, and more systematic autopsy data and histopathological verification are needed.

Pulmonary fibrosis and consolidation are not as severe as those caused by SARS, and the exudative reaction is more obvious than SARS. Specifically, judging from the general examination of the necropsy, the lung injury of the deceased in this case was obvious. The inflammatory lesions (gray-white lesions) focused on the left lung. Therefore, the "Report" believes that considering the ground-glass shadow seen by radiology corresponds to the alveolar gray-white lesions seen by the naked eye, it suggests that new coronary pneumonia mainly causes inflammatory reactions characterized by deep airway and alveolar damage.
Previous tissue local pathological changes obtained from the puncture sampling of the deceased person of New Coronary Pneumonia suggest that the pathological features of New Coronary Pneumonia are very similar to those caused by SARS and MERS coronavirus, but from the systematic anatomical observation of this case, there is no pulmonary fibrosis and consolidation The lesions caused by SARS are serious, and the exudative reaction is more obvious than SARS. The consideration may be related to the short duration of the patient's diagnosis from diagnosis to 15 days, and more systematic autopsy data and histopathological verification are needed.
