It was put in to appease the Matlaya government. There is no historical context or evidence to support the Malays being indigenous to Singapore. If Malays in Malaysia do not make that claim then how is it that Singaporean Malays can make the claim? That part of the constitution will be removed in due time. Other than providing free education there is nothing else that is put into practice that isn't allowed for other races. Our Mats here are strongly linked to Indonesia too.
