In the novel Animal Farm, the leader Napolean (who is really a dictator) took some puppies from their parents when they were young and gave them special training and teaching.
They grew up to be fierce dogs, who are loyal to Napolean. Being isolated from the real conditions in Animal Farm, these hounds had a warped vision of that is good for Animal Farm.
It reminds me of what is happening here ..... with our scholars and generals given special training, being out of touch with the real conditions, and given positions of power.

The "real conditions" are that majority of Singaporeans are comfortable and happy. That's why the PAP has been returned to power for more than half a century.

the paper generals here are blinded by the high pay.........and prestige of being MP or minister later if they're 'loyal' enough............those that never join PAP will be loyal to PAP also............

so in case of Opposition win GE..............PAP can count on Army generals to help keep them in power...........

whether the soldiers will follow orders or not..............don't know lah.......

The 40% aren't suffering. They're just as comfortable as the 60% some even more so. The difference is that the 40% don't realise how lucky they are to have the PAP look after them. They take the government for granted.

What the 40% need is a good dose of bad governance. They'll then learn their lesson.

side track a bit, tkl has some good points but he is not cut out to be a leader or a boss. i know him personally and i think he is another old guard from his previous corporate life. he used to be a pap crony until ntuc asked him to leave his ceo position. now, he is voicing against the pap. he is no differnece from the guys from sing party.

He WAS a a crony but it's a fact that he led NTUC Income for 30 years. A leader in more ways that you can ever hope to be.

This guy really let Singaporean down...if not we have a better President, Tan Cheng Bock running the place, doing the check and balance.
He should have just step out of the Presidential race and not lose his deposit.

In his hey days, he visited a public purely org for personal reason. However, he certainly knew how to capitalise on his position, making the visit like an official one and was treated like vip.
