SINGAPORE: Minister for Foreign Affairs and Law K Shanmugam will be in the United States from Sep 20 to 29. In New York, he will attend the 69[SUP]th[/SUP] Session of the United Nations General Assembly, where he will deliver Singapore’s statement at the General Debate.
He will also be attending the Atlantic Council 2014 Global Citizen Awards ceremony, where he will accept an award on behalf of former Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew.
The Council's Global Citizen Awards honours global leaders who have made distinctive contributions to the strengthening of the transatlantic relationship. Mr Shanmugam will also speak at the launch of the Lee Kuan Yew Chair for Southeast Asia Studies at the Brookings Institution in Washington DC.
During this trip, he is slated to attend the Ministerial Meeting of the Global Governance Group and the Informal ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting. He will also officially open the new building of the Permanent Mission of Singapore to the United Nations, and the Consulate of Singapore in New York.
