of corse they have to implement these kind of things every now and then. how to "masuk" if don't have these kind of projects?? works or not, who cares?
some parties are capitalizing on the confused situation in msia. najib busy with the mh370 and mh17 will probably hv no time to look into the details. such is the way policies were implemented all along and its the way to go in msia. didnt someone say msia boleh? u c if things dont work out, can always U turn right?
If they are always boleh, they will be just like SG now, too over boleh till many of us wants to get out when retire. So for me, I hope they will not be too over boleh so that I can have a peaceful retirement there in near future.
When cost of living goes down, business goes down, commission paid salary goes down, local jobless rate increases. Some get to buy cheap houses, some goes hungry, some jump off their unpaid mortgaged apartments. Govt collect less tax from poor business; penniless to help the jobless; loses the next GE.

Those high value properties in JB will never be hit because rich and well-behaved Singaporeans will love it. Give them jam-free entry to JB and they are so contented with it. RM 100 per entry is shit money compared to the lifestyle that high-class tamans in JB brings. Afterall, they already saved RM2-5million by buying into a nice enclave. What they want is hassle-free entry and exit to JB. Whats RM 100 toll and VEP to these people???
They want to see less Singapore cars jamming the causeway but they themselves want to drive Malaysia cars cheap cheap and park outside their workplace in Singapore ma!
Its a fair decision on both sides. For so many years, Causeway tolls of S$1.20 + RM 2.60 is peanut to someone earning S$1500 a month.
I was hoping they peg to RM 20 to enter and RM20 to leave and Singapore also peg it.. means RM 80 for a return trip.
Cmon, its still cheaper than a budget airline return ticket to KL. Right?

Most rich Singaporeans and Malaysians will avoid JB.
Usually these people are busy with their lives and work in Singapore, and they fly to other destinations for holidays. I have observed that most people who go JB are low-middle income groups, as it is mainly the low prices that attract them. Their spending power is tremendous due to favorable exchange rate and sheer number. The rich ones in Nusajaya are a very small minority. There are many expensive properties, malls and shoplots in southern JB coming up, and they cannot depend on a small group of rich buyers to sustain.
With higher inflation (from subsidies cut-back, more taxes and GST), rising tolls and VEPs, the customer base from Singapore will become smaller and their spending power will be lesser. Many new property launches, malls and shoplots mostly likely will fail in the short term. The only beneficiaries are the Singapore government and landlords. By early Q4 2014, you should see better HDB rentals at Jurong and Woodlands, and malls in Singapore will breathe a little better due to mainly the middle class (drivers) pull back from JB. Less Malaysian cars in Singapore also mean higher COEs. High prices in Singapore will be better supported.
Someone's JB investments in Nusajaya could be badly affected.
Also the low to lower middle income groups live mainly in the West and North, the richer people in SG usually live in the East and Central regions much further away from JB so they rarely go there. Not to mention car types, the higher income group drive more expensive cars so they avoid JB too, the Causeway is usually chock a block on weekends with a high number of red plate very cheap old Korean COE cars.
Why would they rent? Paying the VEP is still cheaper, these are penny pinching Malaysian folks.
Fasting not over, most of the SG Malay folks busy preparing for Hari Raya, they already went to JB since the beginning of July to buy their stuff, more traffic for past few weeks
