In cases where there are disputes, do you ask yourself this question "Who started it?"
If you do, how can you be sure that the forummer whom you deem to be obnoxious is the one who started it?
Are you aware of all the facts and the history in order to make a fair judgement?
Disputes are not the issue. Flame wars are part and parcel of the package.
What I'm referring to are those that won't let the matter rest and constantly harangue a particular member over some argument that happened ages ago. It's like heckling at a public meeting and can get rather annoying.
Take a look at the dankos vs Char_Azn posts and you'll see what I mean.

Subsequently, Char Azn went crying to you to release Dankos' IP address and wanted Dankos to "declare publicly in the forum that he would not go after his brother".
My support suddenly turned to Dankos.

The complaints will never stop and it's hard to please everyone here. Interestingly, ivebert's supporters (you should know very well from where

I've pretty much let everyone run riot and I've received numerous emails and PMs asking me to do something about it.
There are silent members here who tell me they'd start contributing if I enforced some degree of law and order. In the other corner are the more rowdy characters who enjoy the rough and tumble.
I have various options :
1. Do nothing.
2. Infractions and a 24 hour ban.
3. Place them in moderation so they still can post but at a much slower rate.
4. Delete the account and all messages.
I'll decide in a couple of days time after reviewing the feedback and the voting trends.
Here is my suggestion. To have two folders.
"Law and Order" folder - no flaming, PAP style if you like.
"Rowdy" folder - where there are actually many who can't live a day here without flame wars.

Nice in theory but too hard for me to police and administer. I used to have a mod to help me out but he quit on me after a couple of months. It's a thankless job.
Dun be such a cheapskate. Pay a wage of $10k per mth with benefits thrown in. A summer house by the glades. Throw in a 401k plan and we are good to go.

What about ivebert's stalking of Goh Meng Seng before his own identity was exposed? Acceptable?
Limit the no. of infractions a samsters can use per day, longer time penalty to those infracted.
Reason for 1 is to prevent abusing, takes a few more samsters to infract that nuisance
Reason for 2 is those nuisance will consider twice about their actions if their penalty is longer.
