Yes, the lady who called the old man a "demigod" and society thought they found a rebel. It was not to last. Her brother is now CEO of SPH. Her ex-husband, Tay Kheng Soon, the architect is still a rebel. Always one to call a spade a spade.

Pt of clarification. So by yr definition, Chan Heng Chee wld be considered not part of the estab , but has become part now ?

Cherian while being the lead Political correspondent of SPH forgot his place and made light of parliamentin an article. Wong Kan Seng, as whip threathened to have parliament charge CG with comtempt if he did not apologise. CG apologised. To his credit, he used to write quite incisively about parliament (and the last journalist to do so). He is now a critic but never touches the scared issues and plays well inside the OB markers.

Cherian George was ex-colleague.

I wasn't aware he was in any kind of trouble.

I remember he was a tall thin fella in Newsdesk.

Bro Scroobal,

All these years reading your articles, you struck me as either a very astute observer or Singapore's 'Deep Throat' quite an insider. I think more the latter.

I didn't even know Architect Tay Kheng Soon was Chan Heng Chee's ex-hubby. Hmmmm....

Prof Tommy Koh another non-card carrrying PAP man ! Maybe he is just a loyal citizen ... among early batch of SU Law Grad, dunno why Thio Su Mein beat him to being 1st local Law Dean (maybe that was to make a statement... now made her so yah-yah). All these years in UN, now he is to me the MM of Foreign Service...

Once upon a time, I remember Time in the 70s name Dr Tan Eng Liang - Spore's 1st Rhodes Scholar - as PM material. of course very quickly after woman problems, he quickly left politics deciding that there is more to life - being a sportsman & all...

The other day, read about long-lost Yeo Cheow Tong in ST.... ha ha after all the caricature mocking John Harding/may Chu websites, when reporters query him on his current job, he replied something like it's very 'private' or 'sensitive'.

You think those tales of Yeo Cheow Tong & wife are true ?

I am digressing ....

I once thought Vivian Balakrishnan would become natural leader of new generation ministers . Now I feel in terms of exposure, Teo Ser Luck surprisingly look to be in the limelight with looks, opportunity, physique etc IS he too lightweight to be a future PM ?

The rest - Lui Tuck Yew (what a name!) & what not ..... no future PM material in sight... sigh

The PAPies are a fascist political party. THey thrive on fear. Their fear of being replaced and the fear of the people. There is no way that anyone of true calibre will be brought into their leadership ranks. Those with some distinction will likely be brought down to their knees sooner than later.

The oldman will have a tome covering the transgressions of each individual of distinction. I wonder who or where these tomes are stored or if they only exist in the brains of oldan and a select few. These tomes can be used to cut both ways - for or againt the people, for or against the PAP.

Whatever is good for Singaporeans is necessarily bad for PAP and whatever is good for PAP is bad for Singaporeans. This is the result of 50 years of one-party rule on the back of a fascist political party.

I began this journey because I realised that Singaporeans had no clue about the Pyramid Society, the Alpha Club, PA and what ticks? I thought it was unfair that this society was opaque to say the least. There were many others in this and previous SBF that were also helping in lining up the ducks. I also had to read up extensively to ensure that I could put together the best fit.

Tommy is probably the one with the best moral compass. He was actually in the thick of things from day 1 as he was close to the Fajar bunch. He and Arthur Lim are probably have the widest range of friend on both sides of the spectrum. But Arthur has the biggest balls. Everytime, Poh Soo Kai is released from Detention, Arthur will throw a reunion dinner. He did the same for Lim Hock Siew. Arthur is also the same chap who organised old man's massive birthday at Shang.

You are right about Tan Eng Liang, had a lot of promise except that he could not keep his zipper up. Yeo CT was under investigation. Both Yeo's wife Helen and LHY's wife are probably the most mercenary in the law business having no shame in mentioning their access to corridors of power. George Yeo's wife is a blessing from heaven. No mention of her connection with a cabinet minister despite running her own firm and very much down to earth.

Let me reassure many out there that there are many potential deep throats out with plenty of juicy stories to tell; those in the know who were in Uni in the 70s, possibly early 80s. They are keeping quiet for now. Self preservation. Wait for the spilling- of-the-beans after the old man dies.

For the moment, the only times when u hear all the inside stories are during private alumni lunches or over a nice Chardonnay. So be patient my friend... many interesting stories with names named will be revealed.. but only when time is right. For now the morsels from Scroobal make fascinating reading for now for me simply because I'm so glad that there is is at least one other person who not only knows but is sharing it with us all in a smart way...

Dear Elphanto

I would name Tharmen at the top of my list, someone who tries to be himself and balances all viewpoints. All the rest of the newbies "LKY wannabe's without the experience and battle hardened testing of LKY>"

Yeah, u r rite, Locke - Tharman, the OSA-acquitted guy seemed to have the admiration & support of LHL. I believe he knows his stuff - but political acumen....hmmmm

Actually, Khaw Boon Wan seemed to be an unassuming man by temperament & demeanour to me - although many forummers call this Penang-born drone many names. At least, he is pretty open during the various pandemic crises & apologise whenever there is systemic failure.

Frankly speaking, I will support Tharman over Khaw as PM if PAP decides to change PM if it managed to form the next government.

Tharman was not acquitted of the OSA charge. He was fined but so be it. Who doesn't make mistake? But at the very least, he admitted his folly and paid fines for his fault.

My only fear is that old man seemed to have lasted longer than some chaps. Eu Chooi Yip and Samad Ismail have been lost to history. Both had the deepest secrets but Eu as part of his conditonal return to Singapore could not say. He however broke one other important conditon and that was to meet his former comrades. Samad refused to talk. I was hoping that Eu might have passed the details to his daughters but old man was smart enough to put them in SPH. Devan too is dead but thought he was highly critical of old man until his death, interestingly he did not spill one iota of those secrets which surprised me. I was hoping that Lim Hock Siew would have completed his memoirs which he had planned but his health did not allow him.

I however have this feeling that because of their kids, no one will break the omerta. Even Said Zahari, did not reveal anthing except of those that passed away and even that was limited.

The intrigue of the 70s and 80s will be more revealing when old man kicks the bucket.

I agree on Tharman. Tharman rise is also a likely subject for a thriller. The set-up that went wrong, the official secrets act and the dismissal of a perm sec. I however suspect that Tharman will walk away sooner rather than later to take up a supranational post. Especially now that his record has been expunged.

Khaw is the only chap in cabinet that will admit to a wrong without hiding behind a holiday or an overseas trip. Even Tharman sent Gan to face fire in parliament when the long held quota for foreign students came out in public.

Bro Scroobal,

Are you sure? Why? He has been doing all those good will gesturing, helping PAP to gain some political points of humility!

I was expecting them to put him at Aljunied GRC to put a siege to Hougang when George Yeo calls it quit!

Pretty sure that the name is not on the slate. He does not want to run.

Dear Scroobal

U better be right about that nugget :_))) Some of us old timers here will hold you to that surprising prediction. If a minister from the last batch was to go ......I would have named a few others apart from him.

Actually I roughly know why. It might be the Mingyi's case but to me, that's not worth it.

The PAP's slate of ministers will become unbalanced again if Khaw leaves. I believe he is the only one Buddhist minister left in the cabinet. This is unhealthy since about 50% of population is Buddhist-Taoist.
